Adkirk were the chosen solicitor of my buyer and couldn't have made the process any worse. Everything that went wrong with my sale can be put down to the incompetence & lack of communication from Adkirk. My buyer's offer was accepted in June and we are now completing at the very end of October. Horrifically, Adkirk agreed to a completion date before they had even completed their due diligence and review of source of funds. This meant the rest of the chain made costly plans for a completion date that was never going to be achieved. Eventually, on day of agreed exchange, Adkirk went radio silent & would not return any calls. It was by some miracle that we managed to exchange at 4.55PM. There has since been no acknowledgement or interest in taking any kind of ownership for the absolute chaos they have caused everyone. The emotional distress on top of everything else has been insurmountable. I would not recommend.

We didn't have a good experience from start to finish. The whole process was a struggle and part of that was because I had savings in cash. I was constantly made to feel like a criminal, having to constantly show proof of funds and this took away from what we wanted to know about the house. 2 days prior to moving in we received an email from adkirk to say they needed more information before they could exchange contracts. We wouldn't of minded had the completion date not already been agreed. I feel our case was not handled well at all. I'm not sure why the same issue was discussed for 4 months and not dealt with at the beginning. Even our local solicitor was surprised by the service we received from adkirk.

Shockingly poor conveyancing experience. Adkirk were acting for our purchaser in a recent chain transaction. What should have been a happy thing - buying a house - was made miserable, uncertain, and crawlingly slow by these guys. In the first instance, almost zero work was done for nearly two months. Several documents go 'missing' and have to be chased and chased, and chased. When a report is delivered to our purchaser, it is clear they are offered without interpretation or advice: when our purchaser raises perfectly reasonable questions, she doesn't get answers, she gets her questions copied and pasted to our solicitor after a few days' delay. When we came to completion, I just knew Adkirk would mess it up, so I was extremely cautious in planning removals and extended a rental. Surprise surprise, I find the mortgage advance has been requested for the wrong day, so completion runs up to the absolute wire.

In our overall experience, there was zero, absolutely zero, professional pride. Given that we were dependent on Adkirk to conduct our sale, and there were often weeks without update, I was embarrassed continually to the people we were buying from - and in a different economic climate, I am 100% convinced that they would have lost patience and sacked us off.

I would not proceed with a sale or purchase in the future if other parties were represented by Adkirk.

The sellers solicitors were terrible throughout the process and I don’t think we would have completed the sale were it not for Kelly ensuring they got the work done, and keeping us in the loop the whole time.
