I did not use Clare May for conveyancing for the recent sale of my house, but unfortunately my buyer did.
My house got an offer very quickly from a cash buyer and I had no forward chain, so I made it clear to all parties that I wanted a quick sale. There was no reason this should not have happened, but my request was ignored. My solicitor constantly had trouble getting hold of Clare May as she was often not in the office, the stock excuse being “she does have children”.
After weeks of delays, it eventually came to arranging exchange of contracts, Clare May suggested a day, but it did not happen. I only found out about this on the day it was due to happen, so it was very frustrating, and our expected timescales were cut very short. It eventually took place 2 weeks later after many phone calls to my solicitor to arrange it.
The ”quick sale” I had hoped for, eventually took nearly 5 months due to this solicitor and a slow moving buyer.
Some reviews of Clare May solicitor seem to mention slow progress and based on my experience I would agree with this.

However mays failed to chase up management packs that we had already paid for, they never corresponded with us and where very rude whenever I called. One last in particular has zero customer service skills, she was always rude on the phone and stopped answering my calls! I was advised it would take 6 weeks to complete, 4 months later and it’s finally done. Painful and expensive experience, I will never use them again, I would advise to steer clear of this company
