Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Salcombe, The Winking Prawn offers a charming dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating that provides a stunning view of the sea. The ambiance is relaxed, perfect for a casual meal while enjoying the fresh sea breeze.

The restaurant specializes in BBQ grill seafood, where you get to choose two options from a tempting selection that includes prawns, chicken, salmon, and more. Each dish is accompanied by fresh bread and a vibrant salad, making for a satisfying and well-rounded meal. The seafood is grilled to perfection, with each bite delivering a burst of flavor, particularly the prawns which were succulent and flavorful.

Desserts are a highlight here. The sticky toffee pudding is rich and indulgent, a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. The Eton mess, with its perfect blend of meringue, cream, and berries, offers a lighter but equally delicious end to the meal.

Whether you opt for the cozy indoor seating or the breezy outdoor area, The Winking Prawn delivers a delightful dining experience with great food, friendly service, and a view that’s hard to beat. Highly recommended for seafood lovers and those looking to enjoy a meal with a scenic backdrop.

Excellent location. Tea & Scones . Lovely views and a self ordering system introduced during Covid times and now still in place. which is a shame as makes it impersonal

Plenty of space inside and out, covered terrace and benches with parasols, right in front of the beach. Prices quite high but big portions, just had baguettes and prawn cocktail which was very good.

Stopped here on a walk from Salcombe to South Sands. Nice location near to the beach with both outdoor and indoor seating.
They force you to wait to be seated which is a little frustrating as there were lots of empty tables and it took a long time for someone to come to show me to a table

Tried to order a Chai Latte, but the waitress didn’t know what one was so just said no

In the end I took a tea and it was the most generous I have ever had, I got one pot of tea and a second teapot full of hot water - well done

Lovely position just across from the beach. There was a good choice on the menu, they were happy to accommodate my gluten & dairy intolerance. I thought it was a little pricey.

What a nice place to stop and enjoy a coffee or a full lunch menu while overlooking North Sands Beach in Salcombe. There was plenty of seating, both indoors and outside. The waiting staff were very friendly and so helpful. Would definitely recommend from brunch to lunch or just a coffee and sit
