A Perfect Birthday at The Rose & Crown

After a wonderful day shopping in Holt, my husband treated me to a birthday meal at The Rose & Crown, and it was the perfect way to end the day. I absolutely love this beautiful pub, so rich in history, with its stunning architecture, charming wooden beams, and wonderfully misaligned floors that have stood the test of time. The lit fireplace and the many cosy rooms made for such a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The service was fantastic, with friendly and attentive staff making us feel so welcome. And the food? Absolutely excellent, as always! Every visit here is a delight, and this special occasion was no exception. Thank you for another memorable experience, we can’t wait to return!

Great choice of wines, with a diverse menu

The food was cooked to perfection and both my wife had a special meal for a special occasion

I had a starter of fresh local seafood and it tasted like it had come fresh from the sea.

We have ate in the bar restaurant before and thank god I remembered the curry’s were famous in the local area

I went for the chicken curry, which was perfectly spiced and was as good as any curry house in London, blackened pees rice and accompaniments, simply amazing and buzzed around on the tastebuds

We didn't reserve a table but was seated straight away. The service was super quick and they were very busy. We shared the chicken roast dinner and it was gluten free barring the Yorkshire pudding. Coupled with the Australian chardonnay, it was very pleasant.

Lovely bar area with log fire, friendly, helpful staff, clean well equipped freshly decorated room, really comfortable bed, great a La carte breakfast with tables allocated with individual names of rooms, ample parking at the back. Would 100% return. ||Just one small point (not a criticism) - we had the Crows Nest room. In the corner of the room where there’s a little table ledge - this is a handy area for doing your hair as there’s a power point for hairdryer/hair straighteners. There’s a double socket there so it would have been great to have a little lamp in the corner to see what you’re doing. Simple and cheap to fix!

Our first stay at the R&C. Very enjoyable. A friendly welcome. Dinner good - especially the moules. Breakfast good, too - the poached eggs with smoked salmon memorable. Our room was warm when we arrived & the bar / restaurant areas nice and toasty as well. Waiting staff charming & efficient.

Popped into this local pub to where we have been staying for my mums birthday and parents anniversary.

The food was fantastic and the burger was the best I have ever had! I would highly recommend eating here! The place is also dog friendly which is a huge bonus for a lot of people now

I can’t comment on the rooms as we haven’t stayed as we’re local.
The food is amazing we have eaten here many times.
The staff are so great friendly and we love the locals all in tweed holding up the bar hehe.
Everyone is so friendly which is a rare thing these days.
The open fires are lovely we will always keep going back to the R&C .

A very warm welcome in this old fashioned traditional pub. Cosy bars and log fires aplenty. Staff are very friendly and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed. The food offering is excellent. Many choices at breakfast and all very appetising. We ate in the restaurant 3 evenings and the food was very tasty and well presented. We upgraded to a comfort room and were well pleased. A large room with equally large comfy bed. The bathroom was also huge. All in all a very pleasant stay and we hope to return.||Disliked · Maybe the restaurant could do with a separate area for guests with dogs.
