Travel from Widnes for a friend's birthday and had a lovely time. Food was nice and my partner enjoyed a tasty tuna steak! Given it was a large party of people the food was very quick. Also very dog friendly. If I was closer I'm sure we would back.

Great choice especially for Gluten free. Really nice filling meal. Only downside was a strong smell of fish, which from talking to others , seems to be a regular thing.

I am writing this review following my experience dining today at the Larch Farm Pub. We were a group of ladies out for lunch, when the waitress came over and loudly and rudely advised me that I could not bring my own food for my 18 month old granddaughter (a small packed lunch) whilst my friends and I dined in the restaurant.

I explained that I could not warrant purchasing a full children’s meal as my granddaughter is only 18 months old and I found the children’s menu consisted mainly of fried less healthy options or pasta , which are more suited to older children, and therefore she wouldn’t have eaten it. I didn’t advise the waitress that my granddaughter has in fact got several food intolerances as I felt it would have been of no interest to her or her manager .
A more acceptable approach would’ve been to have quietly spoken with me at the end of the meal and told me that the company policy is that a children’s meal must be purchased once a child is eating solid food and that they had allowed it on this occasion as they know that I and my friends eat there on a regular basis but then I would know for the future. I do accept that the business would suffer if everyone with children , brought they own lunch, but for such a young child there should be some reasonableness used. Most parents would also agree, a toddler of this age can be particularly ‘picky’ !

This particular waitress is aware, I have dined with any one of my grandchildren , who would have been under 2 , regularly with my 8 friends, however this is the first occasion that it has been mentioned, I therefore would have expected to be treated with better customer service.
I asked if I was able to continue feeding my granddaughter and she said she would have to check with the manager.
I also asked to speak with the manager who the waitress said was not there but had in fact been watching us on the CCTV.

I did advise that I would be writing a negative review on the review platforms as to the way the situation was handled and she said that was ‘up to me ‘ and they get lots of reviews good and bad’. I felt that customer service was not of any particular importance to them.

There are lots of good pubs and restaurants and cafés to choose from locally and although we’ve always been happy with the food I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere. It’s unlikely that the Larch Farm will be affected by the loss of eight regular customers, but I hope that this review will be useful to other grandparents or parents dining with very young children!

Just passing through and seen this pub so pleased we stopped. Absolutely beautiful food, you can taste its homemade food. The chips are light & fluffy best ever! Steak & Ale pie my husband loved. Great value for money as 3 empty plates. Wished we lived closer to this place.

Went here for a meal with 2 others. Spent over 70 pounds for 3 people. The advertisements claiming the fish was "fresh", it was not, it was very clearly frozen and the oil used to fry the fish was well due a change, the fish was very oily and the place smelt of old oil.

The burger was quite greasy and dripped down a lot, although the burger wasnt the worst, it had barely any BBQ sauce which made the burger fairly flavourless.

To top it off the coffee was very clearly not fresh ground coffee, as someone who's a coffee lover to the extent where i possess a professional grade coffee machine, it was really quite poor. Especially with their claims of "fresh ground coffee".

The only saving grace for this business was the staff. The manager and the staff in general were lovely, they helped whenever they could and weren't crappy when we had a word with them about the food.

The atmosphere is also lovely, the decoration was impeccable and it had a lovely homey feel, not too warm, not overly bright, just a perfect medium.

Overall I just can't reccomend this place, not until they sort their food quality out. It was effiectively a good looking greasy spoon. £70 for two fish and chips and a burger is simply ridiculous for the lack of quality.

I just wanted to say a big thank you, we had some food here last night for my birthday and stayed for the pub quiz. The food came out quickly even though there was quite a lot of us ordering at the same time. The staff were really friendly and a special thank you to the girl who brought out my cake. Great pub and plenty of room for an event
