We stayed here for one night in The Pump room and it was beautiful. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome firstly by Chloe and then Andrew. We had dinner for four that night as we met up with some family who live near by. Food was exquisite and the service was superb. Couldn’t think of a better place to stay and eat would highly recommend. Alex behind the bar was lovely and helpful both in the evening and again at breakfast in the morning.

I came here with 4 friends for Sunday lunch and I must say it was a very good experience although very expensive, we had 5 roasts 4 pints of Moretti and a coke and the bill was £203 I believe.||The atmosphere and the pub it self is very nice although a little small and we were sat by the bar so quite a bit of tucking the chair in and out, but this is fine as I know it is a very old pub, one issue we did have was that we booked for 4 but had 5 which is our fault we did ask the man at the bar if that was okay he said yes that’s no problem and pointed us to a table with 4 seats, we had to grab another chair and also no one set us another place setting so we had to get that as well. ||The food was the star of the show taste wise but there were a few issues, I believe we ordered at 1pm and there was no chicken left at all which was a bit disappointing, so we all had the beef which was very tasty and tender the bone marrow gravy was out of this world and the veggies were cooked perfectly, the only issue was the Yorkshire had clearly been left out for too long and then cooked again is it was very hard almost inedible for all 5 of us. Also we had 5 butter knives to eat our meal which made it very difficult to cut and lastly the portion sizes there simply isn’t enough I understand and these establishments that it is quality of quantity but £30 for the portion size is simply too much, a small bowl of veg and a decent pot of cauliflower cheese. ||Pros: Very tasty food, bone marrow gravy star of the show, nice atmosphere, very good pint selection. Overall a very nice meal||Cons: Very expensive especially for the portion sizes, butter knives for beef, seating us at a table for 4 when there were 5, no chicken and overcooked Yorkshire. ||I would like to say although I may have mentioned a few cons here do not let that deter you overall we had a very good experience it’s just on that occasion there were a few hiccups, I would highly recommend this pub.

Excellent location. Food was fantastic, both breakfast and dinner. Staff were attentive and couldn’t be more helpful, we had quite a large group of us travelling for a local wedding and we were looked after. Really relaxed yet lively atmosphere in the pub/restaurant.

Beautifully renovated (ongoing) historic building in centre of village overlooking the Green. The new owners have worked hard to keep authentic. Rooms very comfortable apart from hot water issues. Delicious food and busy bar. A very dog-friendly hotel and pleasant, welcoming staff. Unfortunately a dedicated Reception area is lacking. I hope to return one day. I first visited in 1970’s! Good to see it is still thriving.

Place has a lot of history. We were welcomed by the super warm and friendly family. The food was amazing, best I have had in the week in England. The bar was warm and inviting. Room was comfortable and clean. Hot water was an issue in the night. Noisy building. But I would definitely still recommend.

The best service I’ve ever had! Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Very comfortable bed. The towels and robes are really nice.

What a gorgeous overnight stay we had at The Crown. The newish proprietors Andrew and Anne- Marie were very welcoming and all the staff were friendly and ensured our comfort was of paramount importance. Really good food and beautifully furnished.
The hotel was undergoing some renovations and improvements and I feel that the best is yet to come. Would definitely return.

The most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in, the pictures do not do it justice. Everything about this place is amazing, the family who own the place are the most welcoming people ever. We will definitely be back! And worth mentioning our furry companion was also allowed to stay with us in our room which was lovely.
