Had a lovely weekend staying at the Angel in Burford. The staff and general manager were all so helpful and friendly. The room was lovely as were the choices at breakfast. We ate at the hotel one evening and again the food was excellent. The hotel is in the perfect location - a few yards off the Main Street but lovely and quiet. Would recommend a stay here!

Lovely little place in quiet side street in beautiful Burford. Our room was a good size and at the front of the building. Be aware there are no staff on sight over night ( which was not a problem for us) and we were given a key to the front door. Everything was very clean and the bathroom was a good size with bath, shower and plenty of hot water. The room had a large king size bed and linen was white and fresh although the bed was a bit soft for our taste. As with all buildings in the town it is old so the floors are charmingly wonky and some door frames low as you would expect. Our room was over the restaurant and you could hear conversations from below very clearly, again to be expected in an old place such as this so do bear this in mind. |We went out for the evening so cannot comment on the restaurant food but when we returned at 9.30pm (on a Wednesday in mid January) the place was all shut up and so our room was very quiet for the rest of the evening.|Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cooked meals. We both had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was delicious with a generous helping of salmon. |It was very good value at £90 for the room including breakfast (I booked through Booking.com). We found street parking right outside easily (although I suspect this would not be the case later in the year). The only reason it does not have 5 stars from us is the soundproofing issue which although did not really affect our stay might do so for others.

I was excited to visit this pub however when I arrived as a solo patron I was quickly relegated to the back room next to an area/table where things were being stored and not another person in sight. No working fireplace and zero warmth and ambiance. There were tables open in the front room which had two fireplaces and the cozy atmosphere I was really looking forward to. Initially I thought those tables were reserved or saved for guests but it became clear they were not. In fact, even more tables opened up and I spent my entire meal alone in the back next to a stack of “stuff” that shouldn’t have been there at all much less if they were planning on seating any guests back there.. other than taking my order, I was basically ignored. I suspect it will be suggested that I should have asked for a different table. However, I shouldn’t have had to. Furthermore, the vibe the waiter/host was giving off suggested such a request would have been a complete annoyance and possibly rejected.. In this situation I wanted to assess how people treat solo women travelers without having to be told how they should. have read many stories where solo female travelers are treated this way. I am relatively new to solo travel and this was as disappointing as it comes. That being said the food was very good-the experience however was not .

Visited Burford yesterday and booked a room in The Angel
Fantastic cosy pub with great staff, welcoming and accommodating. The room was great value and spacious. We also took advantage of Wednesday steak night offer. The food was fantastic, one of the best steaks we have ever had. Great experience all round. Thank you.

We had a lovely meal at the Angel. The service was friendly and prompt and the food delightful. It was beautifully cooked and plentiful in variety.|I would suggest that they reduce the size of the meat portions of their meals which were both excessive (beef and chicken) and then could charge less for drinks or reduce the cheeky service charge which was automatically added to the bill.

Didn’t stay in the hotel only used the bar.
Nice quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. Dogs welcome.
Food nice but a bit pricey but going rate for local area.
Would visit again.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Angel. 5 stars all round. Friendly, accommodating staff - everyone was lovely. Food was delicious - we ate breakfast and evening meals on both days. Room very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Superb. Couldn’t fault the room, the food, but most of the customer service. The two guys running the bar and restaurant were spot on . Professionalism and friendliness at its best , and we still have another night here. Two very happy customers
