Booked a mot a month ago. Told them I had a puncture too and needed new tyre. When I got there they hadn’t ordered the tyre. Luckily it turned out to be a problem with the air valve and they could fix it. The MOT was fine. But afterwards, when I got in the car, the alarm for when the headlights are left on went off whenever the driver’s door was opened. The mechanics had left for the night and I thought I could live with it. Then for the next month whenever I used the car (around once a week) the battery was flat. It turns out that the rear lights are turning themselves on and draining the battery. When this happened yesterday when I was at hospital (people kept running in to say the rear lights were on even though the headlights weren’t and I’d turned the lights off before getting out) I phoned the garage and said in a non-confrontational way that I didn’t know if it was anything to do with the MOT because that’s when the problems began, and the man I spoke to started yelling that it was nothing to do with them (without even looking at it) and they wouldn’t be able to look at the car this week anyway. He was really aggressive and rude and I felt shaky afterwards. The rescue truck driver was much nicer, said he had temporarily fixed the fault but I needed to get it looked at properly. I don’t want to go back to south hams and deal with being shouted at again so I am going to another garage, who were really nice on the phone.

I have been bringing my vehicles to South Hams Clutch Centre for more than 20 years and they have always done excellent work at a fair price.

Hate leaving a bad review: Came in with an ABS light on, they apparently replaced the pump for us but the light stayed on. Said that it would be too big a job to check the wiring. 6 months later we took it to another garage who discovered that the ABS pump was never replaced and the old error code proves that. Paid over £400 for the work which was never done as the code was never removed and the pump had clearly never been replaced.

This garage was only one of about 5 others we tried today after having a puncture whilst on holiday in Devon that actually even said they could look at the affected tyre to see if they could repair it despite being about to close for the day. As it was the tyre wasn't repairable and they also didn't have the correct size in stock to offer a replacement which is quite understandable. They didn't charge for their time and offered some advice on where try the next day.

Our car broke down whilst down in kingsbridge a few weeks ago, and the AA towed us here.

The man at the garage was quite rude and annoyed that our car was brought there.

He told us on the Monday that he wouldn't get chance to look at it until the Thursday as he was too busy, which we said was fine...
He then phoned us Thursday and said he couldn't look at it and we needed to arrange a tow to another garage, so 3 days were wasted when it could have been in another garage getting fixed.

I'd rather he said from the start he couldn't be bothered to look at it, as it would have saved us time, money and hassle!

I'd rate zero stars if it was an option.... a few lessons in customer service wouldnt go a miss

I have used this garage for mot and repair for around 6 years and they have come up top's every time, there prices are very reasonable and you are well looked after.
