south Gloucestershire MOT centre for ph taxi inspections there is a gentleman by the name Steve who does the MOT inspections who is not a nice Individual at all, previous complaints have been made against him by private hire drivers.

he will try to make your life as difficult as possible by making you do things the hard way even though you meet all the requirements set by the council.

This gentleman needs to be put under the spotlight because he shows signs of prejudice to some of the ph drivers who are from Ethnic minority backgrounds.

One example is a friend of mine went for his MOT and Steve tried to cancel his appointment which was on a Friday afternoon and the office closes on a friday so there was no way he could have worked over the weekend.
He tried to fail his mot for tyres not having the proper depth and nearly left my friend unable to operate over the weekend.

My friend showed his receipt from The tyre garage which was new and only then he changed his mind and gave him the pass certificate.

I won't be the first to complain about this gentleman and I definitely know I will t be the last one either to complain about his attitude towards the ph drivers.

I totally agree with the previous review. There is a gentlemen there I donโ€™t know whether its the same one, but he's an oldish chap of around 55 to 65 years of age and he appears to have a particular disdain for people who may not be native English.

He will fail you on issues that would not really warrant such action and appears to relish in the fact that he's been given power over others which he will bury himself in. He failed me once on a mechanical issue that was checked afterwards by two qualified MOT testers who advised me that it wasnโ€™t a failure and that the individual who did the compliance check was being unfair. This individual then spoke/dealt with me as If I was a criminal i.e. Sit down and wait for someone to come and speak to you. Donโ€™t leave this room., Read the slip that been given to you , instead of explaining the process to me in an amicable way.
I understand there are safety standards to adhere to for the protection of the fair paying public but the staff here are going over and beyond their remit and using discretion, usually in a negative manner) as they see fit.

This whole licensing section of South Gloucestershire Council stinks of foul play. They seem to have flooded the Bristol conurbation with a disproportionally large amount of licensed vehicles. They have hemmed in these drivers and are now penalising them with extra charges such as mandatory 5 years medicals and 6 month MOTS. They are in my opinion using the extra revenues generated to subsidise other failing departments of the council.

Lets look at the issue of South Glos vehicles working out of Bristol Airport. How is this legally possible. Bristol Airport is geographically located in North Somerset. In SGC, their licencing conditions stipulate an operator must have a physical address in South Glos. and bookings must be taken there. There seems to be at the very least a convenient manipulation of the rules at hand.

They have also closed down their communication channels and instead everything is done by email which takes forever. This is convenient for the authority as it saves them money having to employ fewer staff , not so convenient for the customers. Please invest the revenues back into providing a reasonable service to your customers and please get you house in order and be fairer to the drivers who are paying you !!
