Really helpful and understanding—far easier than I'd imagine looking at some of the reviews. It is important to show respect to those who are helping us.

Relocated a few years back now, not as easy to get to as not in the centre anymore. Now joined with the police station, if it saves money and makes council tax cheaper that's great, but doubt that will be reflected in the bill. Since merging council's with north Yorkshire it seems to be improving, staff seem more helpful, friendly, no major issues.

One star too generous. Left the area and wanted to cancel my council tax. Emailed many times, filled in their forms, no answer. Called them, on the phone for long time, then as soon as you get through they just cut you off. No choice but to just cancel the direct debit. And immediately chased me for the money. Call again, can't get through to anyone. Not sure what else I can do. Completely useless council.

Hard to contact now . Senior persons railcard discount scheme ditched too. Now pay for green bins. Council tax raised 5,2% when ceiling was supposed to be 5%. Bigger bills , less service. Council fat cats filling their pockets.

I have had dealings with numerous departments at Selby council. There are members of staff that are really helpful and go above and beyond, however they are massively let down by others that aren't, and an old system. In the main it comes across like they can not be bothered which is a shame on those that are really peddling away to make things work.

Selby council are not fit for purpose in any way. I for one think they should show the public where the money they spend goes. Let's not forget if we the customer s are not happy we can vote them out..!

The Planning Department is not fit for purpose. They make decisions before hearing all the evidence and believe things that are untrue. Why have a meeting about an application for change of use of a building when you have already decided to pass it and why ask for people's opinions and then totally ignore the majority.

It is very difficult to contact them by telephone. I keep getting a recorded message saying "due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to take you call at the moment , please try again later" I have never known the like ? A public funded body should be accessible at all times & should at least have a voice mail or call waiting system. VERY VERY POOR SERVICE
