In 30 years of business, buying, selling and compliance, I have never ever come across a more dedicated, honest and reliable individual than Marcia Howards, solicitors such a Marcia are worth their weigh in gold, hand on heart you will not find another Marcia. Just to give you all some insight, the compliance work of buying my new business lasted for 12 months, hundreds of hours of legal work, lack of responses from seller's legal team, continuous chasing and chasing the sellers legal team, but every time I emailed Marcia, I would get an immediate detailed response the same day!, Every time I called, Marcia would answer and chat through everything giving me reassurance day in day out, the detail of her work, the calm collectiveness and above all her work ethic, I cannot praise enough! I had the absolute disaster of this company being the sellers solicitors I was purchasing from. My solicitors have quoted ‘the least responsive company we have worked with’ and they still continue not to respond causing me a world of problems even after the sale and I know causing the seller a huge delay (3 months to be exact).
If you’re considering using them expected huge delays which could put the buyer off. I am still awaiting for them to send over paper work to my solicitors even after the sale and we are getting nowhere. Not professional at all.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this solicitor while trying to purchase a flat in London. I paid £1,500 in July to start the process, but I did not receive any updates or communication until the 29th of August. When I did finally hear back, the process was painfully slow, with weeks of delays and very unclear information about the progress of my case.

After numerous calls, the solicitor finally explained at the beginning of October that there was an issue with the shareholding situation of the property and advised me not to buy it for this reason. Following this, on the 3rd of october , I emailed the solicitor to clarify the final cost of the process. I asked if they could confirm that the cost so far was £1,200 plus VAT. The solicitor responded 2 days later , saying that, so far, this was correct and that the time incurred amounted to £1,200 (discounted) plus VAT. and then i received a email 2 months later asking for £876.

Throughout the process, I felt completely unsupported and left in the dark. On top of that, I was repeatedly chased by the estate agent, who made dismissive and offensive comments implying that, as a foreigner, I didn’t understand the process. I raised this issue with my solicitor, but they failed to take any action or advocate for me in any way.

After months of delays and poor communication, I was left with a failed process, additional unexpected costs, and no resolution. I believe it is entirely unfair to demand additional money after such a lack of service and transparency.

As a single, foreign woman, I strongly feel that I was taken advantage of during this process. The lack of communication, professionalism, and empathy was unacceptable. I have since contacted the Solicitors Regulation Authority to raise my concerns.

To anyone considering using this solicitor, be warned: expect huge delays, unclear communication, and a complete lack of action or support.
Avoid this firm at all costs.
