I needed a 6m rear extension done to my house along with building an outer house in the garden. I was always skeptical about what company to go with as I’ve been messed around in the past. However Pro Arkitects was the only company that gave me the confidence to use them. From the start to finish, they done everything for me. From planning to design to actually building and bringing the ideas I wanted to life. The staff were very friendly and the team at the main office were amazing. Communication was key for me and they were fully transparent with me at all times which I really appreciated. It’s been almost a year now. We approached Pro Arkitects to advise us on a loft conversion to add a bedroom and an en-suite, the project would also involve turning the stairs round the other way, movement of some doorways, etc… We made it quite clear to them from the start that we had a budget of £50,000. They assured us this was entirely realistic within our budget.
One set of drawings and £4,000 lighter we have just had two quotations after they put our project out to tender. At every stage of the process we have had to chase them. The quotes have come back at £82,000 and £76,000, so 55%-60% over the budget we had told them. Pro Arkitects told us they work closely with trusted contractors that are local. They won’t tell me who the quotes are from (so I have no way of knowing how genuine the quotes are or if they have been inflated). All they will tell me is one is based in Dartford (40 miles away/1 hour away) and the other in London (55 miles away/ 1.5 hours away – not exactly ‘local’).

If Pro Arkitects had told us from the start that our budget was unrealistic then we wouldn’t have started the process. But no, they have led us up the garden path to take our money, leaving us to chase them over the last year and then to find out the project was not going to happen.

I don’t think the realise the wasted time and energy, and the heartbreak caused by their lack of ethics and professionalism. They have just responded to my complaint but have said none of this is their fault, saying things such as ‘our consultant wouldn’t have said that’, etc…

I will be taking legal action to recover the money paid to them. And I can see from other reviews I am not the only one that isn’t happy with their service.

Terrible service do NOT work with them. I had a very disappointing phone call after simply trying to rebook a site consultation but I was spoken to very disrespectfully by a rude and obnoxious worker. I was called and interrogated with passive aggressive questions and accused of trying to take advantage of a free site visit when it was offered to me in the first place and I had cancelled but wanted to rebook. Would never attempt to use their services again after that disgusting behaviour.

Edit to respond to your comment: It really is disgusting how you can lie like this. You asked if my loft height exceeded 2.2m and I told you it did and then reconfirmed in the call that it was 2.3m I never gave you a different measurement. I booked the consultation for the 31st of may and cancelled on the 30th of May at 5pm so how would it be possible for the consultant to be on their way? Why would he arrive a day early? Doesn't really make sense does it. I also never said anything regarding the roof not being big enough to comply with regulations? How are you just making things up. I told them it was because we had decided not to go through with the conversion so I cancelled the appointment. All of this can be checked via the emails I sent. I would advise that the staff member in the call with me undergo customer service training to avoid instances like this happening again.

Very poor service and communications
worst experience ever, They just rushed everything and took my money without any work done. First they did the drawing without any ideas or suggestions, then confused me and the council with planning permission in result of this part of the project was cancelled and changed everything.
Then I gave them deposit to start planning, however I wasn't comfortable with their decision as it will cause me an unexpected costs, I have cancelled by phone after 2 days from submitting the deposit , and now they don't want to refund me my deposit because i didn't do it in writing and its over 2 weeks now. so unprofessional and I felt they just rush and wanted to take my money, they just took of me a £1000 deposit with 0 job done. they don't deserve even one star ...
