Avoid this awful law firm, particularly if you're purchasing/selling your property. This firm caused a number of problems with my transaction from start to finish.

The main issue was on completion date. My other solicitor completed the sale of my property early in the morning and sent funds straight to PM Law (Team Speller) as expected.

It took me all day to get in touch with PM Law and it wasn't until late in the afternoon that I found they'd made a complete and utter mess of the transaction. Within the space of one hour, they told me that they'd received too much money, and then they told me that they hadn't received enough money before then telling me that they didn't think they'd received any money before finally confirming that they had actually received the money all along. It took until 4.55pm for them to confirm money had been sent for my purchase. Their complete incompetence to simply send to some money to another solicitor left us in a position where we were told to find a hotel for the weekend as the purchase was unlikely to go through.

If that wasn't bad enough, I spent weeks after chasing them asking for them to confirm the transactions which took place and return any excess funds to me. They've finally confirmed that they've been holding on to extra money from my transaction and said they'd send it to my bank account. Several weeks have passed since then, I've chased them constantly and not had a single response from them since. I'm now left out of pocket and with the only option of raising the complaint directly with the Legal Ombudsman and SRA.

Conveyancing firms tend to get a bad reputation, however I have used several in the past and I can honestly say that this one goes out of it's way to provide the worst possible service it can - wish I'd read the reviews before instructing them as seems like others have had similar experiences - but at least they're consistently bad I suppose...

If I could give 0 stars I would do.
PM Law acted for my seller. When I say they are the biggest bunch of incompetent charlatans going, I'm being kind.
26 weeks after my offer was accepted, we finally completed on my purchase on Monday - only 3 days after the agreed completion date. Why the delay? Because they decided to raise more queries on the onward purchase the day before the agreed completion date. How did I find out? My seller's sales progressor for her purchase, because they never bothered informing my solicitor.
I say we completed on 'my purchase' because I turned up to collect keys to find my seller very stressed, as PM Law had completed on my purchase but not the rest of the chain(!), leaving her with nowhere to go. Thankfully her seller/estate agent came to the rescue and allowed her to pick up keys.
It's been an absolute farce from start to finish. Never again will I participate in a chain where PM Law is involved. Do yourself a favour and refuse to have them involved in so much as stapling a document.

Avoid this company at all costs! Just go elsewhere they are useless. Just fob you off don't get back to you. Basic house sale took 6 months and that was with me calling almost every single day for the last 2 months basically doing their job for them. Left me in a homeless position and even after completion still took 12 days and a further 2 phone calls to get my money they owed me from sale. Just useless I would never use this company again. Go elsewhere

1 star is miles too high! If only we could leave minus numbers!!
They have been involved in a few different sales &/or purchases for a number of our clients. As a Sales Progressor I speak with many Solicitors/Conveyancers and I have never worked with such incompetent people as this lot!
I have absolutely nothing good to say about them. We have a number of chains we are about to lose, clients so stressed by the way this company treats them they are becoming unwell, it is absolutely disgusting that an (alleged) professional company can be so terrible.
They have even asked one of thier clients for proof of thier Mum's death, and, despite being told by us and thier client that she is absolutely alive....they asked for proof of death again....3 times! The insult, hurt and distress they're causing is disgraceful!
Despite many complaints and escalated cases they are still not doing anything to rectify any of the cases and move them forward urgently. I have chains about to break because they have no concept of what damage they are doing. To be even more insulting one of thier teams involved in one of my sales basically told me to 'back off' when I tried to express the urgency of a case. I was told 'there are over 2 weeks until you need this to complete which should be achievable, leave us to get on with our job'. Needless to say this date has not been met and my chain is likely to collapse this week with three families left in an absolute mess.
This is just one of many sales/purchases they are ruining and I am totally at a loss as to how to help my clients anymore.
I am not at all sure if any of them are able to do thier jobs properly....in all my time in the industry I have never known files to be 'ready' then go to a Compliance Department for checking and this process is never less than 2 WEEKS in process, they then find ALL the things the team has 'missed', 'not done' or 'got wrong' and we start the task of getting information - going back to Compliance (for a MINIMUM of 5 DAYS) - them finding more 'things' - then going round again! I have asked if they can call Compliance to chase it and be told they are not able to and do not even know who is checking it!!!
I note the many comments on bad reviews here that they often reply "please contact us for an update on the current situation" . IT IS THE SAME REPLY TO ALMOST EVERY REVIEW! They can not even be bothered to bother with the distressed (because that's who these reviews are from) clients who have been so badly served that they feel they need leave awful reviews to warn prospective clients.
As I mentioned, we are in danger of losing more than one chain because of this terrible company. I feel absolutely awful for my clients and can only imagine how terrible they are feeling...SHAME ON YOU ALL FOR YOUR LACK OF CARE & PROFESSIONALISM.

Stay away from these lawyers, or atleast accept the fact you will annoy the other parties because of their lack of communication and care. Wasn't assigned a property manager until 2 months in and frankly the lawyer was useless. They got names on legal documents wrong (always double check), tried to charge stampy duty despite being first time buyers and tried to charge for the searches they didn't even conduct (was done through a separate, much faster firm, which if it wasn't for that I doubt we would have moved in by now). The set completion date wasn't adhered to because of everything being sent over too late for us and the money didn't make it in time, which being on a Friday meant we had to wait the weekend out and that annoyed the vendors (rightly so). Made the first time buying process more stressful please avoid!

I am currently using PM Lawyers to purchase a flat. I have NEVER come across such poor customer service in my life, in any industry. It has been over 5 months since instructing them and I, the Seller's solicitors, the Estate Agent can not get a response by phone, email or the Firm's messaging app. My purchase is about to fall through and my mortgage offer expire, as a result of PM Lawyers inefficiency and lack of response. They simply do not respond to enquiries. I simply cannot imagine how they are still in business; presumably because new customers instruct as a result of an online search, I'd be shocked if they get any repeat customers. Be in no doubt, AVOID this company at all costs.

Make sure to completely avoid PM - Law! It doesn't matter if you've had a bad experience with another company, trust me when I say that PM - Law is even worse.

My claim was handed over to Pm-law, but there has been a complete lack of communication. They are rude and lazy.
The claim, which should have been straightforward due to the other party admitting liability from the beginning, has been ongoing since October 2021. It has needlessly dragged on for 3 years with no resolution in sight. Despite my regular requests for updates, I am met with silence. I have resorted to emailing them weekly out of sheer frustration. Replies are sporadic, with no meaningful progress. This level of inefficiency is unacceptable.

Update due to responding to the review instead of still contacting me.

The promptness with which they address reviews is commendable, but it is disappointing that they have not yet responded to emails that were sent over 3 months ago.

To resolve this issue, I kindly request an alternative means of contacting you or, better yet, for you to have the decency to initiate contact or reply to my emails. Despite my efforts to communicate with my case manager via email, I only receive a response every 3-6 months.
On certain occasions, my case manager would include my email in a letter and respond to it, giving the impression of mocking me.
I have sent emails to the address provided on your website 12 months ago, 6 months ago, and last week, but I have never received any form of reply or callback.
Additionally, I have made multiple calls to your office, but each time I am informed that someone will return my call, which has never occurred.
The responsibility now lies with you to carry out your job effectively, as the ball is in your court.

A nightmare to deal with. Incredibly slow, not responding to emails, moving like a snail when you call them. After 5+ calls and a month they finally managed to finish the ID check, 4% of the progress! Wasted so much of my time and had to switch to someone else, and they refused to refund.

Go up
