Came here for a meal tonight with parents for their birthdays and couldn't say enough about how lovely everything was. Every staff member we spoke to was happy to help and the food was brilliant too. Decently priced and were even kind enough to go out of their way to give my parents a little birthday dessert too. Thank you! 🙂

A hidden little gem. Met up with a friend for lunch as its sort of half way for both of us to drive and meet .

I had a combo platter, the other half had a burger and our friend had salmon salad. We were very impressed with the food, the way it was cooked, how much food was on the plates. Its definitely going to be our meet up spot from now on. The lady serving was friendly and polite, the pub clean and cosy and lots of outside space. It was quiet when we went on a Monday but I would imagine it gets quite busy on holidays and weekends.

Great pub with beautiful food!! The staff are always friendly and the food is reasonably priced for portion size and often has offers on. We have been a few times as a family and have never been disappointed!!

Cannot give an accurate star rating for rooms as we only used the pub for food.
Although this places food overall is good value for money and the portions are very generous, there are a few niggles.
2 or 3 times we have turned up at 12pm and the doors haven't even been open, opens at 12pm.
One of my group ordered a Tikka Masala curry and was served a basic brown vegetable curry with a few chunks of chicken - Masala should be a vibrant reddish colour and doesn't usually contain vegetables - maybe a few peppers. Also the chips that came with the rice where of a very dark colouring but where hard?
Secondly someone else ordered a lasagne, which comes with garlic baguette, basically baguette they spread with garlic butter and a quick flash under a grill, the butter wasn't melted properly and the bottom was soggy.
Also plain sponge with syrup is NOT sticky Toffee pudding as advertised.
I also ordered a Cappuccino coffee and was given a Latte in a cappuccino cup and it was cold. Lady was disgruntled when I complained.
Such a shame a very disappointing as this was becoming a regular place for my group to visit.

Had a few meals at Whistle and Flute and found food to be excellent. The staff however need a lesson in communication and customer service. A smile and a hello goes along way where customers are concerned. I believe the landlady needs to cheer up and treat the customers with respect as its us that put money into her pocket. Better still change the landlady.

To be clear we went to the pub for food - we did not stay in the rooms.

My partner got back late off of the train, we couldn't be bothered to cook so we popped our heads in to ask for a table. We're very glad we did. It is great. Lovely small local pub with a great "pub grub" menu. It's about as expensive you'd expect a non-chain pub to be in the current (Sept 2023) economy. The food was immaculate, the service was great too. Really cool find and highly recommend to anyone using Barnetby train station!!

We haven't used the whistle and flute since the old owners had left, so thought we would give it a try. We arrived as the pub opened and walked in to a wet fish smell. We were the second couple to arrive, so the barmaid and waitress dealt with them and their drinks. They never acknowledge me or my wife in the time they prepared the drinks. Not even a good afternoon. I walked straight out and went elsewhere. For me both members of staff need basic customer service training. Not the same since the last owners left.
