I had a great experience with Direction Law over a decade ago, which prompted me to instruct Owen Paulo to deal with my house sale. I foolishly believed that when taking over Direction Law Owen Paulo would maintain excellent customer service. I was wrong. Owen Paulo was extremely attentive when trying to court my business. Upon paying fees I was given an information pack advising new clients to be patient with time frames of communication - this should have been a red flag. Like others who have complained, I have been frustrated by the lack of communication. The communication is so poor that I have had to intervene and obtain information myself. For this reason I have withdrawn my instruction and have found an alternative solicitor. The difference between my current solicitor and Owen Paulo is worlds apart. Absolutely awful service.

I appointed Owen Paolo when buying a shared ownership property and primarily liased with the Resales specialists Lucy Owen and Caroline Young- I had an excellent experience with both of them and would highly recommend! No question felt too big or too small and I always trusted that they would respond in a timely manner. Any time I chased for updates, I could rely on them to respond promptly and professionally to let me know where things had got to and what the next steps were. They explained the many steps of the process clearly and were also honest with me about timescales from the start and throughout, which I really appreciated. My particular transaction ended up being very complex and it really helped knowing that Caroline and Lucy were on the case with all the complicated details and would action my many requests for more information from the other parties involved.

I honestly cannot believe how bad my experience was with Owen Paulo. The process started when I was dealing with Direction Law and actually Poppy was really great at keeping in touch. When Owen Paulo took over it went downhill very quickly. I sometimes had to chase 2 or 3 times to receive a response. I was told I'd get a call back from someone by the end of the day and that phone call never came. My emails then continued to be ignored most of the time with no apology!
When the process began, I was given a 12-14 week timeline. We were nearing the end of the timeline with no end in sight. It was a week before the end of the said timeline and no acknowledgement from my solicitor - or anyone for that matter, that it was going to take longer than that. No apology, no real explanation, nothing. Just an email here and there to say that they're waiting for responses from the buyers solicitors - but nothing with any real detail. Just a few words to make me go away for a while. And there was nothing proactive with their communication - it's only when I contacted them. My solicitor never bothered to call me to explain the situation or to discuss anything about the delay. It finally completed this week and that was single-handedly the only time my solicitor actually called me.

Not good enough and terribly disappointed with the level of service. Would never go near them again.
