I do not recommend using Newnham and Jordan for conveyancing.
We chose them over another firm due to their proximity, thinking we could drop in if there were any problems, or to sign documents. This turned out not to be the case.
The ease of correspondence was a major issue. As a direct comparison, the firm we used for our house purchase responded promptly to every email, usually within the hour. With Newnham and Jordan they state that emails are responded to within 3 to 5 days. I wrongly assumed that this would be in extreme circumstances, however it proved to be the norm.
When we finally did receive emails, they were very obviously written very quickly with very little thought and contained many spelling and grammar errors. Some were barely legible, not what you expect from a solicitor.
We were asked the same question multiple times which we answered in the only possible way each time
Going through the process of the sale we were not kept up to date with it's progress and had to email them for updates, which we then had to wait 3 days for as we were discouraged from phoning them.
The lack of professionalism and poor communication made a stressful time even worse.
