We used New Homes Law for both the sale of our flat and the purchase of our new home. While the transactions were completed, the experience was extremely frustrating throughout. Our assigned solicitors were consistently unresponsive, phone calls went unanswered, and we had to chase for every update.

On exchange day, they forgot to send us the contact to sign prior so that was also another stress to find a witness to sign the document at 3pm in order to exchange that day.

We didn’t receive our final bill until the day of completion, which added unnecessary stress, especially as the total was higher than expected. On top of that, the Help to Buy repayment amount was incorrect, leaving us to scramble for an extra £1,000 on completion day.

After completion, we continued to chase them for the service charge reimbursement from the flat sale, as they forgot about this aspect! Despite selling in February, we didn’t get any response until May, only after we threatened to file a complaint. We were then told that pursuing the service charge with the new owner might “bring up old issues,” and they promised to chase the management company instead. That was on June 23rd, and we’ve heard nothing since.

The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism made a stressful process far worse. Honestly, it’s just not worth the hassle.

No progress has been made on my case in months, I can’t get a hold of anyone, I’m running out of time. My solicitor has changed 3 times - the first one could write legible emails which is quite concerning.

My interaction with this firm was extremely disappointing. Throughout the purchase of a chain-free flat, communication was minimal to non-existent, I received no clear guidance, and the solicitors assigned to my case came across as unprofessional and, at times, discourteous. The process took over six months, which felt excessive given the relatively straightforward nature of the transaction, and probably this feeling is due to no communication or justification explained during the process.

Unfortunately, the problems did not end at completion. More than a year later, I am still managing the consequences of what I believed was a lack of due diligence — specifically, being charged £780 in service charges that should have been the previous owner’s responsibility. This appears to have resulted from a failure to properly review or act upon key information during the buying process. Attempts to recover the cost from the seller’s solicitor have dragged on for over 8 months.

Communication on this has been sparse, and I often struggled to get responses to emails or phone calls — a stark contrast to the company’s promise of a “stress-free” experience.

However, after escalating the matter to the customer care team, I did receive a more thoughtful and professional response. They acknowledged certain shortcomings in the way my case was handled and took the time to explain the miscommunication around the documentation. To their credit, they offered a goodwill gesture even though the original documentation could be interpreted in multiple ways.

While my overall experience with the legal process was far from satisfactory, I do appreciate the constructive and respectful approach taken by the customer service team once the complaint was raised. Their involvement brought a degree of resolution and showed a willingness to engage fairly, even if it did not fully compensate for the financial and emotional stress caused.

Based on my experience, I would cautiously advise others to consider alternative firms if seeking a smooth and well-communicated conveyancing process — though I remain grateful for the more professional support I eventually received from their complaints department.

Unfortunately I don’t have a positive word to say about my experience with this company. I came to them with a goal to achieve a move by the 16th given plenty of months notice. During the process we have been lied to about when checks were carried out multiple times. Have had a member of staff (who I won’t name to save embarrassment) make my partner out as if she is the problem during a stressful time, and when I have called to get an update have had this employee think I was on hold only to over hear her talking badly about us! During the week leading up to the moving date which they said “sounds reasonable no reason we can’t achieve it” I have heard nothing despite calling and being asked to be phoned back. I am a first time buyer already dealing with the stress of moving but this just makes it worse.

DO NOT USE. Awful communication. Took them two months just to raise initial enquiries then demanding £1000 as an intermittent payment and refusing to look at anything or do anything until payment is made! No one responds to emails and they call off a private number so you cant ring then back. Contract states a £500 payment mid way through. I had Nancy, so if you see her name run 😂
