We’ve used Nantes for conveyancing- buying and selling- and will writing and they have always been professional but approachable and helpful. I would happily recommend them.

Firstly we were greeted by the wrong names upon meeting. Not a big issue. But it was the start of many disappointments. The initial meeting went well after this (We were buying some land with outline planning). There were a couple of issues, one being a potential boundary issue. The other being that the outline planning on the land was due to run out not long in the future. Both issues were sorted during the meeting. We left the meeting and on the way out Mike gave my partner and myself a verbal price of £500. Which I wrote down. Fine no problem. There was some issues with the money and it got sent to myself by accident. Over 100k. We then sent it to Nantes. One of the staff stayed on late to see the money was received their end. Which it was. We were told the money would be sent to the seller. However, we went not updated for a few days about the whereabouts of my money. We had to regularly phone up to check the money had been sent/ received by the seller. Often the staff were huffing and sounded annoyed at the calls. We had no conclusion for several days and were left completely in the dark. My partner finally found out from the sellers estate agents that the money had been received by the seller. Meanwhile we had random emails where we were accidently sent somebody else's details about their case with Nantes. After the first wrong email we let them know it was sent wrongly and we still received another after this. These emails had somebody else's personal information in them.

In all, it was a bit inconvenient, but we got there in the end. All slightly stressful but it was done.... phew. We then received a bill of over £1,600. Which was a shock. We had witnessed rude staff, received confusing wrongly sent emails, we were charged per phone call for asking if my money (over 100k) had been sent/ received and blunt communication. Once we questioned the attitude of the staff and also the bill. Apparently that's just how the staff treat clients. And the bill is just the bill and that we should have known the price (even after Mike admitted he verbally gave us a price of £500)

So bitter sweet feelings. Ok they got the job done. But in our opinion it was not very professional and confusing.

We viewed our new house on Wednesday morning and had our offer accepted and instructed Nantes that afternoon/evening. We completed the purchase by the close of play the following Tuesday. Yes, four working days from viewing to completion, which was one day before stamp duty holiday cut off, and all without any fuss or drama. A massive thanks from us to Mike and his team who we can wholeheartedly recommend.
