The Gentleman (I think is the Manager) at Millets, Hexham is one of the most helpful & informative people I’ve ever come across in the retail sector. He looked after us today and gave us a wealth of advice whilst making our purchases today.it’s obvious that he is very passionate about the outdoors and loves his job. Give him a big pat on the back and a bonus. What a great help & a thoroughly nice chap he was.

Good selection of walking footwear available here, with some popular brand names often heavily discounted. I was able to purchase a nice pair of Peter Storm boots at a good price. Other outdoor equipment is sold here, often also discounted. Staff are attentive without being overbearing, and I will return here for shopping for outdoor gear.

I bought some Hi-Tec boots for 7 months ago, and after walking about 400-500 miles the boots started to split and soles and uppers come apart.
I was initially told they were not in warranty, but the asked for photos, which I provided and was given a full refund.
Thank you so much

Outdoors shop with lots of choice of products. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. Competitive pricing and even better if you have a Blue Light Card.

If I could review Hexham as a whole, I would say it's one of the friendliest places I've ever been and the staff in here reflect that.

Good store with plenty of choice only reason I have left a one star is because of the manner of the older lady in store,I have read a few other people's low reviews and I am disgusted that this member of staff still has a job working in the community.Would not enter this Hexham branch ever again

I am writing about a bad experience I had at the Hexam branch of Millets.

I went there with a guest who was visiting from abroad. The products were really nice and we liked some of them. Then we went to the checkout. My guest gave their card for payment, but there was an error on the card. Then I gave my card and it was approved. This time, the cashier asked for my ID. I told them that I didn't have my ID with me, so they refused to accept the payment and said they would refund me (which they did 10 days later).

Then we tried my friend's card again, but the cashier said there was no signature on the back of the card and they couldn't take payment. We were surprised by this. Then my friend saw that there was a signature on the back of the card. We wanted to make the payment again, but this time the cashier asked my friend for their ID or passport. We felt like we were being treated as if we were under police control. We couldn't understand what was going on. Anyway, in the end, my friend showed their passport and ID and made the payment.

I have been living in England for a year and I have shopped many times. I have never encountered such a practice anywhere else. Because of these practices, I don't even want to pass by the Millets store anymore.

I was in Millets Hexham, today , Sunday 29th May. I needed several camping items and both the young man and the lady were extremely helpful. The lady went out of her way to orffer advice and show me products and actually remembered me from a year ago.
On my second visit to the store I was distressed to find the lady being verbally abused by an elderly male customer. Despite the fact he had actually reduced her to tears and was aggressively shouting at her she remained professional and pleasant throughout. She removed herself from the situation and came back to try to resolve the situation. The gentleman was incredibly rude to her but she remained polite throughout. I came over to offer support and asked the man to stop being so rude, and she refused to get involved and despite being abused she handled the situation with dignity. An exemplary member of staff who deserves praise for her professional handling of this situation. I hope Millets operates a zero abuse policy and makes sure this member of staff gets the recognition she deserves.
