Avoid! Disorganised and unprofessional service.
I went to M&L for Conveyancing, buying a property from a family member. It should have been the easiest transaction they've done. I went through 3 solicitors after 2 resigned or were let go. Very little communication throughout, unclear answers, concerns about their slowness were ignored. Our case felt like the lowest priority for them, like their customer service. After 34 weeks of them fumbling around we had to hold off on the sale. They still had the audacity to send a bill 4 months later. Try anywhere else before going here, they aren't the local solicitors you want to use

Feb 2021 - In addition to my previous review I have recently concluded the sale and purchase of a new home. The purchase was via auction. The service both in speed of response and depth of knowledge was first class. Sarah Baker reported back on the legal pack extremely quickly enabling me to secure the property and negotiate reasonable terms with the vendors representatives pre auction. In a sometimes fraught transaction she remained calm and very importantly available to respond to the various bumps that inevitably come up during these deals. Another 2 jobs extremely well done. August 2019 - I have had 2 extremely positive experiences with Mackarness and Lunt. They did an excellent and sensitive work looking after my Mothers and Grandfathers Estate and thereafter prepared fairly complex and bespoke wills for my wife and I. This work was undertaken promptly, with high levels of professionalism and understanding for our unique needs. I would highly recommend them for Probate work and Will drafting.

When you're buying or selling a house, like us, you probably have no idea what to look for. (That's probably why you're checking this review).
You're probably basing your decision on the logo - or the nice address.

We can honestly say, while the logo and address are excellent - it's the people who have made working with M&L a delight. And we never thought we'd use the word delight and conveyancing in the same sentence.

Our solicitor, Charlotte Oldham, (and her assistant Christine) have guided us through a very dull and potentially fraught process with patience, explaining the odd procedures of the rubbish English house selling system super clearly (which it turns out is what we should all be truly looking out for in law firms). But what's special about M&L for us was the extra mile that Charlotte and her colleagues went to for moving the process along on our behalf, and kindly avoiding us costly delays.
We cannot recommend M&L more highly.
