I was very surprised to see L&C had quite a few poor reviews but it seems I fell lucky having Mark McLeod as my advisor! He was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The portal to upload documents and receive chatter messages is brilliant. We ended up having to add on quite a few more documents due to my husbands work but it was easy. Tara-Jane was equally helpful providing updates on the chatter messages and answering any queries. Would definitely recommend 👍

I would strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with L&C. My experience has been extremely poor from start to finish. The mortgage advisors I spoke with came across as clueless and unprofessional, providing little to no useful guidance. The level of information shared with me was vague and incomplete, leaving me confused rather than supported.

The service was not only disappointing but also a complete waste of time. Their approach felt disorganised, and I didn’t get the impression they knew how to handle mortgage applications properly. In the end, I was left unhappy with both the process and the outcome.

If you value your time and want proper, professional advice, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. L&C are not reliable in this area, and my experience shows they cannot be trusted to deliver the level of service you’d expect from a mortgage company.

Excellent service from Andrew Bassett and Jenny Brake at L&C Mortgages. Exceptional service and speed of getting a brilliant mortgage for us. I have used them 3 times over the years. All occasions have been perfect.
Pre arranged phone conversations in prompt time. No pushing to specific products. I told them how I wanted my mortgage to look. They provided the best financial options. I had done my own homework prior to using them so I know the deal I got from them was better than I could find my self. All went smooth and completed on schedule no drama. I will use them again

To be honest the mortgage advisors in this company are totally unprofessional. Mortgage advisor should be very careful before submitting the application to the lender . I told my mortgage advisor everything based on 100percent truth . After the lenders survey ,they refused to give me mortgage without telling me the reason . My credit record is excellent,income is according to the requirements, handsome savings for deposit .
Never had any problem in past,this was buy to let mortgage.i already own my first house .
They didn’t tell me any reason . And in the result this refusal came on my credit file .
This feedback is the message for others to be very careful in choosing your mortgage advisor as I choose because they were not charging anything
So wasn’t a good selection .

Absolutely would not recommend. The whole experience was frustrating and unnecessarily stressful. It felt like the broker had far too many clients and very little actual knowledge of the mortgage products available.

Communication was poor, and there was no sense of urgency or genuine support. I eventually gave up and went with another company who sorted everything quickly and professionally, without trying to push me into a more expensive mortgage just to suit their own interests.

Disappointing from start to finish—best to avoid.

We were really impressed with the service we received from L&C.
We had been let down by a previous broker so turned to L&C. On a Saturday morning we arranged the call and were hugely fortunate enough to be paired up with Yahya. As first time buyers, we were more than a little confused and literally asked so many questions!! Yahya answered every one, putting us at ease from the start. He gave us informative advice we’d not received before making sure he’d only put applications through with a suitable lender. By the end of the day we had an offer. We didn’t have any contact from the other mortgage support person that L&C put in place, but thankfully Yahya was exceptionally efficient and always kept in contact, so we didn’t need to. As first time buyers, he made the whole experience really easy and I cannot recommend him highly enough - he really went the extra mile to help us when we needed honest and swift support. I don’t think we’d have our first home now without him so thank you!!
