Hawkins' Chartered Surveyors have recently provided us with a Homebuyers Survey. They were prompt and efficient, with good communication when our vendor had to cancel the first visit. They have provided a good quality report and photos detailing all of the areas of their concern as well as suggesting some improvements to be made. The report was well thought through and explained to the level of detail that was understandable for first-time buyers. We have since used this report to re-negotiate the cost of the house due to some of the roofing works highlighted in this report and reduced the total cost of our house down. Thanks for your help.

Done a very detailed, comprehensive survey, with plenty of pictures of the issues found and of the house and garage roof using a pole camera. Survey was carried out at the arranged time and received the results promptly via email. I paid by cheque up front and the survey was carried out shortly afterwards.
I used the survey to negotiate a price reduction on the property, so it was worthwhile and observations highlighted such as evidence of condensation in the loft during frosty weather have proved correct. There was good advice regarding the structure, materials used and improvements that could be made. A year on from the survey and only one problem (roof felt leak near rafter end) has recently come to light which most likely developed after the survey was carried out.
Overall a thorough report which spotted and highlighted things which I never would have noticed or thought of.

I asked Hawkins Surveyors to survey a property that I was purchasing because they were the most reasonably priced I could find in the area. They arrived bang on time and were very thorough with their work whilst being courteous and polite.

The report arrived a few days later - much quicker that I expected and the detail it contained was above and beyond what I though it would be.

Several months after the survey I emailed them with a query regarding the condition of a wall. Instead of giving me a short generic reply, they came to visited me and discuss it. Again giving me that personal touch of which only a small family run business could.

If you couldn't tell, I'm over the moon with the service that I received from Hawkins Surveyors and I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

All previous surveys we did were so generic, copy & paste, standard and unhelpful that this time we considered buying a house with no survey at all. Gladly, Home Owners Alliance have a handy surveyor finder tool which allows you to find local, reputable experts. We are so happy we found this firm and Hugh! His survey report was easy to read and very thorough, with photographs and an action plan for both us and a solicitor. Issues were identified that we would not have spotted ourselves and Hugh kindly walked us through the report to make sure we understood his findings (no surveyor before offered this option!).
