We sourced the support of Leigh at Hall Ellis when we ran into an intellectual property dispute. As a company operating in the online education industry, we had faced incidents of plagiarism in the past and handled them with basic cease and desist options. I felt that I no longer wanted to continue to consult to a company I'd been working with for some time. I told them I wanted to leave.

A client of ours had a existing enterprise scale IT system came up with unreliable results, had shortfalls in functionality. The more data that was fed to the system, the more the system got it wrong. The system didn’t have the functionality to see across the entire business and needed manual effort to work properly. Then there were the terms of the software licence with pricing tied to user headcounts and the long renewal term. The small print created a trap with never ending price rises, with few ways to get out of it. All of that got in the way of the client moving into a cloud based digital transformation project for a client.

We needed solicitors with heavy and technical experience with enterprise software licences and commercial contracts. We used this firm as subject matter experts to get to the bottom of the situation. They got into the detail of it with us to work through ways to get of out of the contract with minimal risks to create a list of options and ways to end it all.
