Lasr week I attended the funeral of my cousin Jill in Milford Haven. I was the only mourner. She lived alone and had lost touch with family and friends after moving back to Wales many years ago. She had appointed local solicitor Hains & Lewis as Executors of her will, leaving her estate to charity and requesting, I was told, an unfussy funeral service. She had few if any other living relatives, but was a kind and generous person who would have touched the lives of all who knew her. I was concerned they would have an opportunity to pay their respects, but had no way to trace friends or neighbours. The solicitor Hains & Lewsi, with access to her papers, repeatedly refused to engage with me in an effort to identify them before the funeral. The most it would do was publish a notice in the local newspaper. So I was alone in being able to say goodbye. On the day of the funeral I received a letter insisting the firm had met all its legal obligations as Executors. Perhaps this is so. But what happened to respect and moral responsibility? By contrast, staff at the local funeral director Tom Newings & Son, were kind and thoughtful in making the arrangements.

Having lost all confidence in another firm in Pembroke where the solicitor kept ridiculous hours (starting about midday) and was simply rude, I chose Hains and Lewis in Haverfordwest instead. Best decision I have ever made. I had a fantastic service and great communication from start of the sale through to completion. I cannot recommend this firm enough. The only delay was caused by the Pembroke firm I had ditched... as they then represented my buyer instead and the same solicitor was as shambolic as I had expected!

This company was engaged to deal with the estate of my relative. They were negligent in wiring the funds to my account and put the incorrect account number in the account number field, hence the funds were lost. After 20 days of trying to liaise with the specific solicitor and getting no where, I realized I had to write to the practice manager. he IMMEDIATELY rectified the issue and sent a very nice apology email.

We used Haines and Lewis for the purchasing of our first house. The initial dealings with them was smooth running and the purchasing went through with minimal issue.

The main pain and suffering started when we explained to them that we had two Help To Buy ISA which allowed you to receive a government cashback for first time buyers.

Once the house was completed we chased, to which we were sent paperwork to fill out and then send back. After 4 months of no response to emails, or voicemails I made an official complaint. From this my initial solicitor called me to discuss the situation to which she started talking about the WRONG THING. I had to explain why she was calling me!! I was then informed that it was too late to apply for the grant scheme and there was nothing they could do further. There is only one employee that deals with these typed of mortgages and my initial solicitor was not the correct one. THIS IS APPAULING that only one employee across all branches deal with this, and obviously no other conveyancers even have knowledge of the processes!

After a few weeks after my initial complaint (4 months of chasing and being ignored!) I managed to gain compensation for the money we lost due to this.
