Hunting course:
Beautifully maintained championship course full of technical holes and really was a challenge. Unfortunately the pace of play was dreadful and no sign of a Marshall - groups were shouting on the course and causing disturbances, the round was close to 5 hours long with at least 2 groups waiting on tee boxes. Really was a shame. If we were not members of the QHotel courses then we would ask for our money back 100%.

My girlfriend said she also felt uncomfortable in general at Slaley Hall which is a rarity. Men were staring and being obnoxiously laddy - we had to walk out the Claret Jug restaurant because of this. You would hate to think if any of them had daughters.

The Marshall on the 1st tee was lovely and took photos for us on the tee box, this was one of the few highlights during the day.

It is a shame but we do not think we will return.

As usual this course continues to perform as good as anywhere, Friday was very wet unyet out pro's person managed to play the first two rounds of the knockout, I without greens flooding no trolley or cart ban, I greens were superb, if you're planning a society day this course will be open, which is what you need. Facilties are as to be expected pro shop bar, restaurant all great.

Great place and venue.
Really enjoyed the courses.
Only down side was the staffing levels. Every member of staff were polite, hard working(run off their feet) and helped out with any queries in a prompt manner.
Just wasn't enough of them to cope with the number of guests they were expected to deal with.

Hadn’t played here in over 5 years and how things have changed. Some of the greens were in shocking condition, paths and general maintenance of the course look like they’ve not done in awhile. Glad I didn’t pay full price, it’s understandable some of the issues due to the lack of rain, but the general feel of the Priestman course was run down. Id save your money and go elsewhere.

We visited Slaley Hall for an overnight stay (AWFUL) and played golf on the Priestman course on 3rd January 2025. The paths were frozen over - extremely dangerous and after trying to negotiate our way around, both on the paths and grass, we eventually gave up on the 8th. Muscles aching! Not knowing the course, we had to walk the whole course back. My husband took a very nasty fall on the 14th path and us bruised all down one side. No gritting whatsoever on the paths! We reported it to two duty managers (as well as the Pro) and the course remained open, with no gritting. They’ve clearly not heard of duty of care at Slaley Hall.

Can't speak for the hotel but the lodges and golf courses are excellent. The greens and views on the Priestman I actually enjoyed more than the Hunting course. Bunkers on the Hunting were better maintained.

Guys in the pro shop are really helpful.

Wonderful golfing location.. Difficult rough in areas but great challenge..Nice hotel too, witg good service
