We are first time buyers and I had heard many horror stories about the conveyancing process with some other companies. This could not have been more wrong for us!

We had Roxanne dealing with our case, who was efficient, trustworthy and so responsive, which made the process (which was extremely difficult due to the onward chain) a lot easier to understand and deal with.

I would highly recommend Glover Priest and Roxanne in particular and we will certainly be using again in the event of any future purchases!

It was mostly OK, not super slick, but moderately efficient. There was one thing that I hated though. They asked me to sign a document agreeing that I have received the money and agreeing to give away the deed and to sign this well in advance of having actually having received the money. In other words, they asked me to sign away the house and trust them, and to sign to a lie. I initially disputed this, but they were absolutely insistent saying 'This is standard practice and you will be advised the same from any other firm of solicitors.' I checked with my uncle who completed a house sale recently and found the same thing happened to them with a different solicitor so I therefore concluded I had no choice and that in practice it probably would be OK (which it was). The house sale, an easy one with no chain and a cash buyer, concluded in three months with no major problems. I did receive the money on the completion day (you have to pay a small extra fee for this). On completion day they mistakenly deducted a £120 fee that shouldn't have applied. I queried it and they apologized and they sent me the £120 in a transfer very quickly the same day.

We used Glover Priest a few years ago for the purchase of our first property. Everything went well that time and so we used them again for our sale and purchase that’s just completed. Again, their service is very good and especially during the stamp duty holiday surge in transactions. They’ve updated since we first used them with a handy app that provides updates and being able to digitally verify ID. This was particularly good for us as we live in London and so didn’t have to travel to do things in person. Much cheaper than London solicitors. Would recommend.
