I went through Ellis Fermor & Negus for a property purchase in late 2021. I found them to be very detailed and completed the work at a good pace.
I started the purchase towards the end of the stamp duty freeze and was advised at the beginning that we probably wouldn't make the cut off date. I appreciated the honesty rather than the false hope given to our up chain seller from a different solicitor.
The only downside was on one occasion I rang in to the solicitors pressed the extension for our solicitor and it rang out. I subsequently rang back straight away, spoke to the receptionist who rang through to the solicitor in question then the receptionist came back to me straight away to advise the solicitor was busy but would contact me later. Given this second phone call was within a minute of my first call I strongly suspect the solicitor saw my call but declined to answer which isn't great for the amount of money solicitors cost.
We then swapped solicitors within the firm and the work was completed with excellent contact from our new solicitor Joanne who was a breath of fresh air compared to previous solicitors I've dealt with.
On balance I would recommend Ellis Fermor & Negus for good quality work and would use them again.

After contacting almost every solicitor in our area and getting nowhere, we came across Ellis Fermor & Negus. Unlike the other solicitors that we had spoken to previously, there were no complications with our request of completing a transfer of equity and declaration of trust. Amy Pope dealt with our request initially and promptly provided a quote. Bethan Duckworth then acted as our solicitor and did everything that she could to complete our request by our deadline. She answered any questions or queries promptly and very clearly cared about providing the service that we had been looking for. Not to mention, that EF&N quoted considerably less than other companies, without lacking quality. We would highly recommend Ellis Fermor & Negus. Thank you!

Untrustworthy, lazy and arrogant.
Unfortunately my family chose to use this firm to deal with my Grandma's will, it has been over 18 months and they still haven't completed what they have been employed to do. At every step of the process I have personally had to "prompt" this firm to do something. Without the intervention of asking what they were doing at anytime, nothing got done. At one point while waiting 7 weeks with no news or updates from them, I enquired what they were doing, they told me via email that they were preparing the paper work for probate. One week ago in a passing conversation with a member of staff they casually informed me that this firm had not done the probate. She said probate had been done by a different firm before this firm was employed, which means they have blatantly lied to me. This is just one of the many problems we've had over the last 18 months.
Also, with the experience I have received from this firm I really wonder about the other reviews this firm has received on Google, they appear to me to be employees?
