I recently used DHC solicitors for my residential property purchase. I would like to express my thanks for the service, in particular to Isaac, the solicitor who dealt with my case. The communication and explanation were first-class, which gave me complete peace of mind that all was in safe hands. This was particularly important to me, due to being a first-time buyer. Despite being a more detailed matter, the process was completed swiftly. Many thanks Isaac.

We have used DHC for many years for our property purchases and sales. This time we needed their experience for an eviction notice (Regrettably Reading B C insist before they can help!). Everything went as smoothly as it can in these cases, and whilst we hope not be put in the same position again in the future, we would use Paul Owen's services for tenant issues.

Very happy to recommend Dickins Hopgood Chidley, and in particular to give a well deserved thank you to Paul Owen. Paul assisted me in a complex legal matter, and was very calm and provided clear and wise counsel throughout the process. He provided a very professional service and he brought the matter to a close with a very satisfactory result.

Although we are not a direct customer of this firm (thankfully). The purchasers of our property (before they pulled out) were. Initially we found their communication curt as some other reviewers have suggested. We were very open with the purchasers on some of the issues we had fixed with the housebuilder before they placed an offer. But under advice from Emily Payne we were being asked for proff from one of the largest housebuilders that the works we told the purchasers about had been completed. The housebuilder does not provide this, they assume that as residents you will oversee the work. We had provided scope of works and confirmation from the housebuilder that they do not write to confirm completion of any such issues......

Ms Payne possibly has not heard of home buying surveys that would have removed any doubts....

We are obviously annoyed that our buyers pulled out under advice for no real tangible reason. The whole chain was pulled down Impacting several people, all the stress and devastation caused. We were particularly annoyed because we were being pushed on our purchase, committing to surveys and paying fees by this solicitor and thier clients, all the while, they were holding off in the background as another curt email we received a few days before pull-out from the solicitor confirmed, that until we provided the impossible they would not raise any surveys etc.

Sending an email to this solicitors setting out our position and frustration, listing the issues and suggesting that should we bump into thier clients I will speak, my mind. The response from Ms Payne was totally unacceptable. Telling me she has reported me to the police and viewing my comments as threats.
The last time I checked we do still have freedom of speech in this country and I am fully entitled to express my views should I bump into her clients.... The response really doesn't help, was over the top and heavy handed. Rather than trying to de-escalate it has made matters worse.

In my view ( I am entitled to a view), the most unprofessional fragile solicitors I have had dealings with. Evidence suggests they do not understand how newbuilds work in terms of any issues remediated and in our situation do not understand that for the vast majority of conveyancing a home buyers survey would resolve any fears.

Thier responses and actions were curt, disdainful, confrontational, unprofessional and in my view not in the best interests of thier clients.

Excellent local firm for probate, conveyancing and other private law matters. Can particularly recommend Emily Payne, solicitor with the company, who has helped me and my family with Will-writing, powers of attorney, and property conveyancing for a number of years and has always been helpful and responsive.

A massive thank you to Paul Owen and his lovely assistant who were able to accomodate me the very same day I came to seek help. Paul resolved my issue quickly and was kind, empathetic and responded promptly to all my emails following our meeting. I would highly recommend him to others.
