We had the misfortune of being involved with Debenhams Ottaways Solicitors in St Albans through the drafting and actioning of my late mothers will
They were only employed as unfortunately my mother had forgotten the trouble my late father had had after involving them with commercial lease negotions, in the days when they were just Ottaways.
He always said they had just 2 speeds-Slow and Dead slow!
Anyway they took on an earlier draft of my mothers will for amendment and updating, and failed to make alterations to a trust arrangement within it, despite being reminded to twice at the time by the later executors of the estate. This could have resulted in a much larger inheritance tax bill from HMRC.
When this was later highlighted to them they were clearly not interested , and in fact charged additional fees for the assistance to the executors for something they should have done many years previously.
We would certainly not recommend Debenhams Ottaways for any work

I have been instructing Debenhams Ottaway Solicitors for over 10 years as my "go to solicitors" for my business and recently I needed them for a personal problem with a faulty expensive purchase.
I have found them extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
They're not out to overcharge, if anything I had good advice on how to save on their fees, I used their fix price package.
Most importantly you want your legal problems resolved in your favour which they have always be able to do for me and my company.

I have used some "big legal names" in the past who failed me miserably, they even charged me for the phone call when I complained.

On a recent litigation Jessica Kavanagh worked tirelessly on my case which ended very successfully and was settled promptly.

I don't recommend businesses very often but I would 100% recommend Debenhams Ottaway and their team of experts.
