I will never forget how the solicitor at this practice (Monica Healy) took advantage of my depression and family issues with my only child to settle on my housing disrepair case without receiving my instruction. I’m very sure some kind of professional conduct policies were broken, but as I was dealing with more pressing matters (child, home, mental health), she got away with it. But I’ll never forget the fact and how negligent she was within her duty of care to me in handling my file and how she completely ceased and ignored all communications when I questioned why she had settled without having any discussion with me. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

I used Clinton Davis Pallis upon recommendation from a friend but the initial solicitor changed by the time we had an offer on the property we were selling. There were some difficulties with the sale of our flat and I therefore have to make some allowances but overall the time it took for simple queries seemed quite long and partly chaotic. We received a list of outstanding questions from the buyer's solicitor even though we had already answered them previously, which made me wonder whether CDP had a grasp on communication.

When eventually the sale went through we received funds only to find that the buyer's solicitor made a typing error and transferred £900 short. I immediately took this up with CDP but would have expected them to have made their own calculation, checked the statement from the buyer's solicitor and spotted the mistake. They then were waiting for the buyer's solicitor to rectify this even though it was not our fault that we were short changed and I would have expected CDP to put it to rights rather than let us wait a number of working days.

As part of the negotiations the buyer's solicitor requested a £300 retention for one year. Of course the 12 month came and went and no communication from CDP. When chased I was told that as part of the £900 short change they made a mistake and remitted the retained funds. This is not true and I sent clear calculations. A week later I was sent the retained funds but apparently CDP still haven't sorted their ledger.

I would expect a good solicitor firm to have a good understanding of numbers and that they would have spotted the initial short payment and also be proactive in returning the retained funds. Would not use CDP again,

Fantastic service given all the time!! and always picked up the phone when i rang!!! I was taken through the process and guided every step of the way. I was very impressed by how much effort the conveyancing department did on my behalf. This really took the stress away from the whole process. I would recommend Clinton Davis Pallis to anyone. I stumbled across this firm when my usual conveyancer was not able to take my instruction because he wanted to go on holiday. But i must say that I will never go back to him and can't believe why i put up with his service all these years. Anyone who has not tried Clinton Davis Pallis must do so and you will not regret it. A great firm that genuinely works hard for you. KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK GUYS!!!!!!!
