We have used Charles Wycherley Independent Estate Agents Ltd on two separate occassions to carry out building surveys. On both occassions they were thorough, and efficient. Both reports gave us the confidence to make an informed decision

My first review of Charles professionalism ( or lack of) was removed as he wanted a second chance to prove his worth. To work ‘above and beyond’ for me to sell my property. The contents of my first review was all about his lack of communication, his ability to run his business like a hobby and the lack of urgency giving us feedback on viewings from potential buyers. I have wasted almost 2 years giving my property to this agency and having pulled it from him to give to another, has really given me some insight into how an estate agency really does treats its customers with communications. I would say Charles really hasn’t gone ‘above and beyond’ in any capacity. Since he told me that he would improve his service he has not communicated in any way that made me feel involved, supported or confident in the sale. This whole journey and experience has been awful and he still hasn’t spoken to me or responded to my correspondence. This morning I received an email from Will- somebody I have never spoken to, saying the property has been removed from his website (as requested over 24 hrs ago and resent since I had no response yesterday ) There was no apology for the late response or that Wycherley's had left me feeling very underwhelmed by their service(or lack of) I feel this was rather cowardly and actually quite rude of Charles, that a client he is supposedly working for and doing business with, is treated this way. Just about sums up his customer service skills. Against all my better judgment and given the benefit of the doubt, Charles still failed miserably to deliver.

Highly Recommend AVOIDING.

Echoing the previous review of 3 week ago, I have had a dreadful interaction with this estate agent- which has cost me and my family both time and money.

In sum; dreadful communication and dubious dealings.

Detail; having had our offer 'accepted' I immediately instructed a solicitor, surveyor, gave statutory notice to our tenant, expediantly agreed the sale of our flat, and importantly fully communicated at every stage with Mr Wycherley (which was not in any way reciprocated).... only to be told that the price had gone up by £xxk+... notably less than 24 hours after informing that we did not require Mr Wycherley to sell our property for us.

I clearly have no legal standing for a verbal acceptance and have to accept it and move on. However, I am left extremely disappointed and with a messy situation with a tenant to clear up.

I was extremely disappointed with the assumption that I could not possibly increase my offer (I could), and likewise had access to private finance had a 'rush sale' been the priority, but was never given the chance.

If you don't fancy being in a similar experience to myself (buyer) and the previous review (seller), then perhaps go to an alternative estate agent where you can expect decency to prevail!

I would make a formal complaint, but it would likely be unresolved as the complaint is against the person dealing with the complaint!

NB: for the past 3 weeks google has prevented the negative post being uploaded - this is my 4th time editing in order to leave negative feedback. I wonder how many others have also had same experience!

If there were 20 stars I would give them all to Charles and the whole team. From day one they worked tirelessly on the sale of my flat. With efficiency, speed, emotional and practical support, as this is a probate inheritance.
I just cannot fault them in any way, in fact only praise from me!
Every aspect taken care of professionally, and with a great deal of empathy. I feel both blessed and very grateful. It was the best choice I made to walk in their office in Lewes. A sincere heartfelt thank you, in my opinion they are first class, and irreplaceable! 🙏

In my opinion, it is such a relief for wonderful Lewes to have Charles Wycherley Estate agents as they have the greatest experience and knowledge on how to make sales and purchases work locally. Added to this is the benefit of calm, steady, confident team led by Charles. I sold a property recently with them and knew it would be fine and indeed Charles Wycherley was so professional , discreet and ensured a relatively swift successful sale. Happy to recommend them.

I contacted Charles for a survey report to be done on a property that we were buying, he was extremely responsive and helpful with arranging the survey and the report that was provided was comprehensive, helpful and provided to us in good time. He also made himself available to us for a call, to discuss certain points which came up which was over and beyond what was expected. Would 100% recommend and use in the future.

We viewed a property with that was listed with On The Market exclusively for the first 24 hours, We viewed this property on Thursday 6th, and put an offer forward to the landlord via Charles on that day.
On this date there were three viewings including ours that we were aware of, With one potential tenant claiming the property was “too shabby” for her and declining to make an offer. The property then went live on RightMove on Friday, and they continued to accept viewings on the Saturday.
We called back on the Saturday to amend our offer, stating we would be able to take the property immediately. We then heard nothing, and had no communication whatsoever from Charles Wycherley, With over a week passing we received no communication in regards to our offer, despite phoning for an update. We finally where able to speak to someone today the 14th to be told the property has already been let, The customer service from Charles Wycherley has been appalling and we strongly believe we have been discriminated against due to myself having a disability, something we where very transparent with when making our offer. We have reported Charles Wycherley to the ombudsman and would strongly suggest avoiding using this agency as they may be independent, but are utterly unprofessional, disingenuous and behave like cowboys.
