Avoid!! Stay away from Brookson! They’re a complete disaster!

I was with Intouch Accounting for 11 years, and everything was great—smooth, professional, and dependable. But since Brookson took over, it’s been a total mess. This company is shockingly incompetent. If you care about your sanity, money, or business, avoid them at all costs!

Their “Connect” portal is a glitchy, frustrating nightmare that feels like it was made by someone who doesn’t understand technology. It’s slow, clunky, and useless. Their customer service is just as bad—you can’t even talk to your accountant! Instead, you’re stuck dealing with clueless call center staff, automated emails, or endless transfers.

Worst of all, they made huge mistakes with my year-end filings and VAT returns. I carefully checked and approved my accounts on their awful portal, but two months later, I found out through Companies House that Brookson submitted completely wrong numbers! These are serious errors that could’ve caused big problems. I can’t trust anything they do, so I’m constantly double-checking their work.

Brookson has ruined a once-decent service. They’ve wasted my time, money, and caused me endless stress. I’m fed up with their excuses and mistakes. Find a competent accountant instead. Brookson doesn’t even deserve one star, but I had to give it because of the system.

Ok for basic Umbrella, but use NASA group if you want to contribute to a pension!

Used for Umbrella services for the best part of 3 years. Customer service was slow at the best of times, changing pension contributions was a nightmare and the provider very expensive. A 3% fixed employer contribution also means more NI paid relative to others. I ended up moving to NASA group who I highly recommend. Very flexible pension contribution system who work with ii. The change has reminded me how sub-par Brookson were.

On the positive side I was always paid on time.

Maybe suitable for those with simple requirements, but not if you are on a higher rate and want to managed your pension effectively.

Absolutely shambolic, I've been waiting 3 weeks for a response to a simple query. Multiple issues of errors over the years, have never been easy to contact. After paying these people for 12 years I've had enough and changing to another service provider.

Stay away!
I've had them for over a year and everything they do is terribly wrong!
They messed my VAT and my corporation tax therefore my new accountant said that he's never seen so bad accounting,
I've managed to get a lot of money back from things they have said I can't.
And to think, that people are paying £240 a month for messing up is just crazy.
Really stay away from this scam

1 star is far too generous.

They calculated my corporation tax 5 times more than it should be. Then they were two weeks late fixing it so I was late paying HMRC. I also received a letter from HMRC about an underpayment of VAT return. Brooksons said to ignore it. Ignore HMRC?! They worked out my personal tax returns 11 times higher than they should be!!!!!!!!

If you want letters from HMRC you don’t need to pay an account, just make up some numbers or don’t pay your taxes.

Please please stay away from Brooksons.

Started my company with InTouch in 2013 - all was going great then Brookson's took over and everything went down the drain.
Their custom software "Connect" (Worse than the Post Office's Horizon system!) screwed up my accounts, it could not handle basic functions etc etc.
Now 6 months after leaving
- My new accountants still can't get all my information out of them
- I'm still getting fines from HMRC for periods when they were looking after my accounts
- They do not reply to complaint email - after send 3 to them.

I would not recommend Brookson or InTouch.

Constant Failings by Brookson resulting in numerous fines ,
Brookson delayed the transfer of the accountancy services to another company which resulted in another fine of £1500

Absolutely disgraceful!!
I was with InTouch accounting for years and never had any problems. Brookson took over last year and it has been an absolute disaster!
I have had to remind them 2 or 3 times my VAT return is due, many other things missed and have various penalties.
I am now in the process of leaving and everything is in such a mess, but my new accountants seem on the ball and helping me to sort everything.
