If you want to save yourself and your buyer/seller the stress, do NOT hire Bennett Oakley as your solicitor. And if you ignore my advice and go with them and Sarah is working on your case - run.
I put an offer on my (no chain, vacant) flat on 25th Septenber and it took FIVE months to complete. My seller used this solicitor and 2 months in said she would fire them but it was too late in the process, I imagine if she had then we probably would've finished quicker than we did even by starting all over again.
Sarah took nearly two whole months to answer my solicitors enquiries, and in the meantime would ignore my solicitor & the EA emails and calls for days on end. She went on holiday for 2 weeks in December (before xmas) and nothing moved forward in her absence.
We had two failed completion dates. Sarah pushed us to complete on 31st Jan, but it was HER that we were waiting for as she still hadn't answered the enquiries. It got to the 31st Jan and she went off for the day anyways without updating her assistant or any of us on whether they'd be ready for completion. We were also meant to complete on Feb 14th. Sarah failed to meet this date too, after ignoring us for the whole week leading up to it.
As a FTB, I never imagined it could be so stressful. The hardest part was never knowing if it would be a week or two, or a month or two. Complete lack of transparency from Sarah (she even ignored her own client at times!). It's no surprise that every bad rating on here mentions her by name, but it is a surprise that she's the CEO of the company.
I'd give 0 stars if I could.
