We have now used Allcott Associates for 2 home buyers surveys when purchasing a home. We have found their service and staff to be prompt, professional and organised and their report outputs easy to read and useful for negotiating within the house buying process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to others.

PLEASE NOTE their reply on here has been automated or made up as we have not been spoken to in depth about anything and they have lied. We have photos of what the roof looked like which is obvious a full roof replacement was required.We used Allcott Associates to do a Level 3 survey. This cost us around £850-900. We were happy to pay this much as we wanted to know what sort of property we were buying. They were good at organising the survey and kept me updated. The search was done and the report was sent to me straight away. I read the report thoroughly. I moved in 2 months later. On the survey there was no mention of any leaks in the roof or problems with the roof. The only thing identifed was a torn felt which he photographed (From a distance).
When I moved in on the 18th December it was a miserable day. Straight away we noticed we have 5 separate leaks coming from the roof. There was penetrating damp on the side wall in the back bedroom therefore I could not move my daughter into this room. The worst leak was where the felt was torn. As I looked up I could see the sky through the tiles. There was quite a big gap. This is what has caused the penetrating damp. We then had some heavy rain and during the course of the evening had to keep going in the loft to cover up the holes due to leaks. This is not what we needed before Christmas. We had no choice but to get an emergency roofer out. The roofer climbed on the roof and couldn't believe the poor state of the roof, multiple cracked tiles and gaps. We had no choice but to pay for a full roof replacement which cost us around £5000. We had all our neighbours feeling sorry for us and asking us how this wasn't picked up on the surveyor report and to be honest we have no idea as the gap in the tiles is clearly visible from the loft. If this was identified at the time then we could have negotiated price with the seller or at least got a roofer in earlier to repair the damage. Although we now have a new roof which was done within 2 weeks of moving in we are now £5000 out of pocket for something that could have been picked up easily by the surveyor. We are currently starting the process of going through the complaints department.

I wish I didn't have to write this review however this could happen to someone else and with the cost of living, some people don't have that kind of money. For £900 ISH for the top survey, you would expect them to pay particular attention to the roof.

So unfortunately I would not recommend this company.

Really glad I chose Allcott Associates for my building survey. From my first interaction with them they were very friendly and helpful and it was easy to get the survey booked in.

I was really impressed with the report that Tim produced - it was very comprehensive and included lots of photos and clear descriptions of the issues that were found. Even my solicitor commented on how good it was! Tim was also very helpful in answering our questions afterwards, even responding to our emails whilst he was on annual leave.

Would not hesitate to recommend!

I cancelled before the survey was carried out and have email trails to show this, based on ur response will you then give me the refund? I was told if you cancel 10 days after booking you are charged £50, please let me know

I used this company in September for a building survey in Nuneaton, the actual report was good but I had to chase all day for the report to be sent. Received an email five minutes before the office closed stating see attached with nothing attached - nice!

Come to use them a second time round, on the day my sale fell through - I cancelled my survey and was given a £50 fine. Lovely, enjoy that £50 as it's the last penny you will have from me.

He helped me to identify a structural issue with house we wanted to buy and unfortunately we had to pull out of the purchase. Fast, friendly and efficient service which was good value. I ordered a full survey, spoke to the surveyor on the telephone a few hours after it took place and received a report in the post soon afterwards. The service also included a valuation and a PDF version of the report. Thank you very much indeed.
