I had my Lease Extension from a Housing Association completed with Herrington Carmichael LLP acting as my Solicitors.
I promised Samantha Laker my Solicitor a review when I received my final updated copies of the Land Registry documents. Sadly due to Land Registry taking over 1 year 6 months to process my papers, Samantha Laker has now left the firm. However, I happily leave the following 5 Star review for her and Herrington Carmichael as Solicitors:

Used Herrington Carmichael for the sale of my flat and purchase of my home. Honestly felt like the whole process was made more difficult not easier using them. At times the other side were requesting documents and when I asked about if these were normal requests I was advised absolutely yes and HC would 100% ask for this. So then I then asked why HC hadn’t made any attempt to prepare this information given it was a certainty we’d need it I was met with smug responses along the lines of “it’s not our job”. Throughout the process I often found myself having to do work behind the scenes that they weren’t prepared to do which dragged it all out. The icing on the cake was when 8 months after completion HC contacted me telling me I had to pay help to buy a £200 admin fee. I was told when I questioned this that help to buy would not waiver this and I would need to pay. Anyway I questioned it with HTB and they cancelled straight away. Nice to see a solicitor looking out for their clients best interests! I would absolutely avoid using Herrington Carmichael at all costs.

As a result of my Mother moving into a residential care home we had to sell her house (our family home for over 50 years). This was obviously quite a difficult and emotional process to go through.
