Gordon and his team have done a great job for us. His communication and attention to detail was excellent and the level of finish was higher than the original spec. We had men on site every day and he finished on time, despite some minor changes to the schedule. The site was left tidy every night and they have been back to finish off the snagging list.

Our house is a 19th Century listed cottage.
We decided to extend the kitchen and also the downstairs shower room. We used Organic Architects (OA) in Helensburgh to provide options for the work . We chose one of the options, OA did the tender and together we chose Aitchison Contracts: they had previously completed two projects close to us and we were impressed with the job they had done and had no hesitation in choosing Gordon and his team.
The work involved the demolition of the old extension to the cottage ( with 2 foot thick walls) and construction of a new extension. Before starting work the team installed a temporary kitchen in our family room to allow us to stay in the house when work was in progress.
During the construction phase, Gordon kept us regularly updated on progress and was very helpful when it came to any alterations in the design elements. The same attitude was followed by the team doing the fitting out work.
The project took a couple of weeks longer than initially planned but the completed product was well worth waiting for. The overall level of finish through the extension is very high.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Gordon and his team for building works.
As a final point, getting this sort of work done is a stressful experience, especially when you are living in the midst of the work; not once during this project did we ever have a cause to “ exchange words” with Gordon or any of his team.

Can highly recommend Gordon and his team who completed our extension last year. Excellent communication from beginning to end, very professional, and the team always tidied at the end of the day. Aitchison built a patio in our garden. It feels as though we added a new room to the house. The great weather means we are enjoying the patio daily. Gordon listened to our ideas, discussed patio design and paving. The preparation was excellent, earthworks, foundations etc. as is the finished product. Incredibly professional approach. Gordon and his team renovated an outbuilding for me, to create a holiday let business. It involved everything from working with the architect for the re-build, roofing, flooring, kitchen, bathrooms, heating, log burner & decoration. He was professional every step of the way and in 4 months a derelict building was transformed for immediate let and a Visit Scotland 5 star rating! Highly recommended!
