False Promises, Disrespect, and Intimidation – Avoid This Dealership

I purchased a VW Golf from Wilson & Co Grimsby in March 2025 and the experience has been nothing short of disgraceful.

The car was falsely advertised as “pristine” by sales manager Bailey, but when I received it, it had obvious swirl marks, scratches and stone chips to the bonnet, and cosmetic issues that had clearly been neglected. I was promised — both verbally and in writing — a full bonnet respray and touch up repairs to all panels required. Despite the car being booked in for this work, it was rushed out unfinished, and the visible defects remained.

Worse still, I was misled by the Sales Manager, Bailey, who admitted in a message that the car was rushed to meet sales targets, and then later denied it. When I raised this with the dealership, I was met with total indifference and arrogance.

As a 19-year-old customer, I was treated with complete disrespect throughout. It was clear they thought they could fob me off and that I wouldn’t stand up for myself — which makes this even more disappointing. Rather than honouring their promises, sales managers Mark and Ryan tried to intimidate me, even threatening to cancel the insurance on the courtesy car while the dispute was ongoing. That’s coercive and unacceptable.

To make it worse, I purchased the car through a distance sale, paid upfront without even seeing it in person, based entirely on their assurances — which were clearly false.

I'm now fully prepared to take this to the Motor Ombudsman, Trading Standards, and pursue any necessary legal channels under my rights as a consumer.

If you’re a young buyer, or just expect honesty and professionalism, avoid Wilson & Co Grimsby at all costs.

After having previous issues which were eventually sorted after a lack of communication and customer service lessons to be learned from we eventually were assigned Stacy and Ryan whom I can honestly say were fantastic and went above and beyond to help us source a vehicle that we were very happy with I would definitely say if visiting this dealership in grimsby to personally ask for Stacy and Ryan to look after you when Stacy did the handover she was professional and answered every question we asked she was fantastic nothing was ever to much trouble I think she will have a fantastic future in car dealership

First ever time I’ve used Wilson & I can’t recommend them highly enough. Had a problem with my Peugeot & hadn’t even bought it from them & all I can say is the 3 people who tried to help went above & Beyond .
Will be definitely using them to do work when my warranty expires.

Stay clear of this company!!! Bought a car back in January. Was promised a spare key and FSH to be sent shortly after receiving the car. But once I paid, the service went from great to shocking. All promises were refused and when I tried to contact them (many many times) they never got back to me. There is nothing worse than a company that breaks promises once you've paid. I paid £10k for a car, but they weren't willing to pay the £250 for the key despite their promises beforehand. I even advised them that I would write this review if they didn't at least get back to me. Ignored. Terrible service.

Superb service nothing to much trouble.
Everything explained in detail and any questions answered to my satisfaction. Never rushed and made the visit to pickup my car a pleasure. I would also like to make a special thank you to Josh the salesman I dealt with.

Got a car off these it's a good car I didn't like the way they can leap on you when looking I went on the nighttime to avoid been leaped on security kicked in told me to leave the site or something and I'm being watched I gave hand signals to say well don't have my money then. Haha I went home I'll go somewhere else. Down nissan end is the same they want you to be LEAPED ON LOL we don't like it do we peeps..x
