Awful experience. Avoid at all costs.

I clearly asked Broadway Solicitors to certify two documents for submission to the FCDO. Unfortunately, the solicitor failed to include the required date on the certification, which meant the documents could not be legalised — and I lost £95 as a result.

When I returned to explain the issue — despite being extremely calm and polite — I was met with dismissiveness. What made it worse is that the two people at reception appeared to find the situation amusing, exchanging looks and reacting as though my problem was something to joke about. It was unprofessional and deeply disrespectful, especially given that I had been the one affected by their mistake.

Rather than take responsibility, the firm blamed me, saying I should have known the legal requirements for certified documents. This is incredibly unprofessional — if I knew how to do it myself, I wouldn’t have hired a solicitor in the first place.

A solicitor’s job is to understand and apply the law correctly. In this case, they didn’t, and I was left to bear the cost of their mistake. I would absolutely not recommend this firm to anyone.
