We are absolutely delighted with our choice to instruct Nicholson Price Associates as our surveyor. We are in the process of buying a Georgian cottage, and were keen to use a firm experienced in older properties to ensure we didn’t get inappropriate advice. Having never owned a home of this age before, we wanted to make sure we got a trustworthy assessment from people with real expertise in this type of property. Nicholson Price Associates delivered what we were hoping for, and more. Yes, we were paying for a service, but it still felt a privilege to benefit from Tim’s knowledge. So much so, I would happily have spent hours chatting to Tim on the phone picking his brains about heritage properties. (As noted by other reviewers, he’s so personable, we would happily have invited him round for dinner! Doubt he would’ve said yes, but would’ve made for a fascinating evening learning about heritage buildings!) He was also extremely generous with his time, humouring our many questions we had about the property and ensuring all questions were covered in the report, and giving us a call just 24 hours after the visit for initial feedback. This was followed by a second follow up call once we’d received the report, and further advice when we conducted an investigation of something flagged in the report. As other reviewers have noted, the quality of Tim and Lizzie’s reports is outstanding. We feel we have a manual that we can return to for years to come that will help us look after our home. A final point to note is that despite the impressive historic properties on the NPA website, we never once felt that the small workers’ cottage we are hoping to buy would not have received the same degree of rigour as a more opulent home. Tim and Lizzie recently carried out a listed building survey on a 17th century cottage I was looking to purchase. The service provided was brilliant from the beginning, all communication was quick and clear. It is clear you are dealing with true professionals.

I received a phone call the day after the survey giving a verbal summary. It was clear from the phone call with Tim that he is both extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about his work. The report followed soon after all within the agreed time period. The report was very comprehensive including scans, diagrams and thermal images but also very well laid out and easy to understand. It left me with a very clear picture of the property and what work would be required going forward.

We engaged Nicholson Price Associates to undertake an historic building survey as part of our pre-purchase process of an unlisted Herefordshire cottage, the original structure of which being timber framed. The survey report is exceptional. Clear, concise and comprehensive, it covers everything we need to know, including the building history. Background information, diagrams, photographs, conclusions and recommendations have been included in each section, allowing us to move forward with our eyes wide open. Knowing what work would be required immediately and what should be monitored over a period of time is invaluable. Particularly beneficial, was Tim asking for a list of proposed changes we would want to make to the property before the survey. We did this and added in questions that arose from the property viewings as well. Each item on our list was covered within the report. We found Nicholson Price Associates to undertake a Listed Building survey on a Grade ll listed 17th century cottage we were hoping to purchase. This is our first time buying a listed property so researched many surveyors but Tim and Lizzie appeared very good and knowledgeable in this area. They are a very professional, comprehensive company.

Tim visited the property and Tim called the day after to summarise and then we got the full report few days later. The reports was high quality, explained all areas of the house and what needed further attention. We also had another follow up call with Tim afterwards, he is very knowledgable in this area of work and passionate about his job.

Tim and Lizzie provided an efficient and professional service throughout. We engaged them to survey a grade 2 listed property on our behalf. What emerged was an incredibly thorough and detailed report that was forensic in its detail and systematic in its delivery. As a result, we were left with a clear picture of what work was required, how to go about it and any potential considerations that we needed to be aware of. Throughout the process, both Tim and Lizzie was prompt in their communication and thoroughly professional at all stages - not least of all in their continued support and follow up after the survey was complete and in assisting us to compare the quotes of subsequent contractors.
