The reviews here ar very concerning because I'm going through screening with these people and I've never experienced such a stressful and awkward on boarding experience! Following redundancy I feel lucky to have found a lovely new employer willing to take me in but trying to get through the verification side of things is excruciating - it's like I'm applying to be a permanent resident in another country rather than just accepting a job in the country I'm born and raised in.

I've explained twice that I cannot give them a HR contact for my previous job because that site was shut down and everybody laid off including the lady that looked after payroll and HR, I have a former colleague who is very willing to give me a reference but they keep blanking that fact out and instead keep on asking him for a HR contact for a company that no long exists! I have just had to email them and tell them for a fifth time that there is no more HR or company! It's already delayed me starting the job for a few weeks and I expect this to be resolved asap, so that my start date at the beginning of Feb is not jeopardised for something I cannot help! I don't have an income until I start this role and I don't want any delays on this!

DBS check was completed four days ago and they're still holding up my start date. Phone line completely unhelpful just giving the same canned response over and over about it being "under process". Awful company how they are still in business is a complete mystery.

As many people mentioned, if there was an option for 0 stars, this is what they deserve. I have already started my new job and they are still working on my case. They are incapable of doing basic things like finding contact details of previous employers. I have provided so many documents like payslips, contracts, termination letters etc. and they still ask for more. They are asking for things that are included in the documents I sent which shows that they don't even read what they receive. They always communicate things via email on Fridays at 6pm and delay so much to reply or even acknowledge that they received something and are fine with it

All the above makes the process extremely stressful. Worst background check I ever had.

If I could leave no stars I would! The references they said they were waiting on has been with them for over 10 days now and they still have not passed hte information on to my new employer!

I am due to leave this week and start my new job next week but I now have no idea what to do! Have emailed them countless times and tried to phone but they just simply don't respond.

A colleague has recently had to go through this process. I get it, we have to be thorough about these things. What I cannot fathom as why there is no common sense attached to the process. Delays of 3 to 4 weeks before someone can take up a position are unacceptable.

Checking someone’s high school record from 4 decades ago is plainly insane for a basic retail or receptionist role.

If the lack of options for selecting a previous work period are insufficient, then that is not the fault of the job applicant.

They had to twice invoke the employer to tell them to stop being ridiculous.

The system needs to have more inbuilt flexibility. I suspect they’re just justifying the role in many cases.

They also seemed incapable of dealing with anything more than one issue per day, and ended up dealing with multiple people which is never helpful.

Currently 2 months into a Vero security check and it's been nothing short of torture, to the point where the company attempting to hire me is dropping them as a security check provider and I've begun a new check with another provider (further delaying my start date by 2 weeks). The worst security check I've ever experienced with a ludicrous standard for documentation.

For context, I live in a HMO property where my utility bills are included in the rent, therefore I receive no utility bills for proof of residency which makes meeting the nonsensical 3 separate "official" documents requirement nigh on impossible (they also don't accept landlord references as proof, nor multiple bank accounts from the same bank).

If you're in this position then I strongly urge you to cut your losses now and opt for a different provider, otherwise you will wait weeks between requests for additional documentation as well as handholding staff into making contact with previous employers.

Excruciatingly slow vetting process, dragged on for over 8 weeks so far. Like many reviews on here, despite the replies, this nonsense is still happening so they're not learning. Given I leave my current role in 1 day and start the new role in a week, it's pretty bad they're still messing around and haven't completed it yet. Still asking for payslips from roles dating back 7 years - like 8 weeks after they should have. Then I provided the correct password to open the pdf docs and they wait 2 days to say 'the password doesn't work'. STOP ACCEPTING NEW CHECKS UNTIL YOU'VE CLEARED THE BACKLOG!!
