I am pleased with the excellent service provided by Barker Gooch and Swailes. My solicitor who took on my divorce case , took time to explain every possible outcome which allowed me to make decisions I had not anticipated. Really poor service when acting on behalf of my freeholder. 18 months+ to complete a simple lease alteration. Ignore emails, don’t return phone calls. Repeatedly demonstrated totally ineptitude and incompetence. Never provided any explanation or apology for the extreme delays in progressing this matter. Made my life extremely difficult for a long time leaving me chasing what was going on. My own solicitors felt their conduct was wholly unreasonable. The only word to describe Barker, Gooch and Swailes would be “UNPROFESSIONAL”. I cannot advise strongly enough that you avoid having any dealings with this firm. They have cost me a lot of money!

I went through four different solicitors before finding Barker Gooch and Swailes. I have never sought this kind of legal advice before, and I had a particularly acrimonious divorce on my hands. B G &S were diligent in ways that others weren’t; knowledgeable, experienced, confident, kind, responsive, none-judgemental, and helped me immensely, navigating the detail that lead to an amazing outcome for me and my family, on all matters from financial to children. Divorce law is complicated to say the least! It’s a long string of negotiations and curve-balls, weighing up the “battles” at each stage. My ex was in the stronger position legally, so it was down to me to fight my corner with the help and guidance of B G &S. When I speak to others who have gone through similar to me, I feel very lucky to have had Barker Gooch and Swailes on my side. I also hired Barker Gooch and Swailes on matters of Wills and Probate, and this was swift, professional, and I feel safe in their hands

Unfortunately I was unable to select a zero star rating. I have used this firm on several occasions over the past fifteen years when Tony Mole worked here. Sadly he has now retired. My elderly father recently instructed the firm to deal with the sale of a house and the process of probate. He has been misinformed, given poor advice and had monies withheld for no apparent reason. I shall be offering more detailed information to the Law Society.
