Staff on the phones could not care less about their jobs, the level of service and lack of communication is shocking. Be prepared for a frustrating and time-consuming battle if you ever need help or changes made to your account.

I often read various publications about how much debt South Tyneside Council is in. Maybe try starting looking at some of the staff who are employed within the organisation. Poor customer service, lack of skills when dealing with people, sending out letters or bills and even trying to handle complaints in relation to noise issues, pot holes, bins not being emptied.....the list is never ending. I've had to complain in the past about the gas service engineer just turning up without an appointment, I've had to complain about my council tax, and being issued a £900 bill which I knew was wrong, and when I queried it, the staff were adamant it was correct, so I took it to a financial specialist who told me that they had done it incorrect and added my UC tariff income on, instead of subtracting it, meaning they actually owed me £200. I've had to complain in the past about a family of 4 living above me in a single person's flat, and nothing was done because it was child related the noise ( I mean why put a family home above a single person's home? Seriously ? Who thinks up these plans! ) and most recently I've had to complain about noise from a neighbour involving music, walking with boots on indoors on laminate flooring, loud noises through the day, and random people entering the property at different times through the night, and because the noise app they gave me, hasn't picked up anything, they're quite happy to proceed with closing the case, despite the affect it's having on my mental and physical health. Keep up the great work STC and you actually be lucky enough to receive a 2 star write up from someone.

Hope they dont put the council tax up this year as you cant get your bins emptied now. Ha ha. Had a letter today saying my housing officer is coming to see me on the 11th of july.

Apparently, they can’t send an email to communicate information, but they can sure send your details to enforcement agents when you don’t read the post. Sorry, I don’t live there anymore, Karen. Lack of empathy for personal circumstances and will always get your money without giving you quality service. Still recalling the days when I didn’t have my bin collected for weeks. Shame on you 🙂

How long will the waste collection problem last? You have not collected waste bins on time for over 6 months, but we pay you on time and the entire agreed amount, are you going to give us the overpayment?

My landlord works for this council and he can't even do the repair for the house I am in so do not get a house of alax o tool or toolbox and I got solicitor involved for him yo do the repairs and been waiting over a year for him to do them but wanting the rent every month

Sent an invoice with no warning for a huge amount of money. They were meant to contact me but oops. I felt I'll
Then when promised to not send a reminder here today comes one asking for reasons as to non payment plus spelling errors

What happened to the days of professional etiquette and surely in the world of instant e mail it's not hard to stop a reminder letter.
Waste of time stamp paper print ok but I imagine this is done lots so in todays money saving culture

Also if a Director can't stop a letter being sent what does that say about the control of affairs
