If I could give LPL a zero rating, I would. First of all, LPL called me to say my case was behind due to a glitch in the system not having recorded my ID as having been provided. I advised them at this point that I had paid for the searches over the phone, and they said it will take a few working days for the money to come over/for the transaction to be processed because it was via digital move, and then the searches would be ordered - I advised my estate agent. Almost 4 weeks later my estate agent called me, and advised that she called my solicitor to see where the searches were up to and my solicitor had said that morning I hadn’t paid for the searches and they hadn’t been requested! It took some time with the help of my mortgage advisor to get them to track down the money - VERY unprofessional to say the least and LPL were not helpful. Then the searches came through, I was advised by the solicitor that everything was fine (I was not told I needed to check them myself). I did however look through them, and it transpired that there was granted planning permission for a huge structure outside the front of the property, affects of which would have an huge impact the property. When I have sought advice I have been told that the solicitor should have picked this up and highlighted it to me, however when I spoke to a team leader she said it was my responsibility to check the searches… it was just their job to order them…? She did not have an answer as to why the money I sent for searches went missing and said she couldn’t comment - not exactly a response I am happy with, I would have at the least expected an apology! The solicitor dealing with my case was a trainee solicitor (not that I was paying trainee prices at almost £2k). When I asked the team leader I was referred to if the trainee solicitor was being supported with the case since he was a trainee, I got ZERO response, again not very professional.
Needless to say, I would not recommend this service.
EDIT - I sent a complaint to the email in the comments almost 3 weeks ago, ZERO response, again. Extremely poor service.

LPL made the process so easy. Having everything online meant form filling and reviewing information was so quick and easy. Our solicitor was so speedy - she responded the same day to all queries and much faster in some cases. She was also really good at clarifying and explaining things we weren’t sure about.

Do not put your mortgage at risk and work with this company.

This solicitor cost me a lot of money through incompetence, and lack of attention to detail and knowledge. They were recommended by a mortgage broker (who has now cut ties with the solicitor after the delays they caused), the solicitor was made well aware that there was a rush to get to completion (mortgage offer made 5.5 weeks before end of fixed period of previous mortgage). LPL’s internal audit team then wasted 2 weeks as the lender hadn’t issued them the offer. During this period, they just did nothing - no chasers to the lender, myself, or the mortgage broker.
They weren’t able to get the offer despite the lender also being their client!

After this, the offer was reviewed by the Remortgage Team Manager, Dan, 5.5 weeks after it was offered. When he found that the Irrevocable Nomination of Legal Representative for Notices condition meant LPL couldn’t represent me… how they did not realise this until 5.5 weeks later, despite representing the lender is astonishing.

This company cost me a lot of money.
Do not put your mortgage at risk and work with this level of incompetence.

The process was managed professionally, and everything went through without major issues. There were occasional delays in communication, but overall, they got the job done efficiently.

I just wanted to say the I’m a first time buyer and this can be extremely stressful and frightening for someone who is buying their first home, and considering that these are feelings we can’t help from having I was put at ease with throughout this process.
