Under a lasting power of attorney, I used Taylor Emmet to sell my parents' house at a considerable distance. If you value your sanity, I would recommend that you do not make the same mistake.

Kris, Philippa, and Joanne seemed to be determined to make the process as complex and stressful as possible. As an example of one of the many problems that plagued the transaction, after explaining to them that if exchange of contracts were delayed by a couple of days, the need to pay commission to the original estate agents would be avoided and after telling them that the estate agents had successfully obtained that delay, Taylor Emmet nevertheless called me to ask whether commission should be paid to the original estate agents.

Also, Kris left it to the last moment (only a couple of weeks before exchange) to require me to obtain proof of lack of competence of my father such that the LPA took effect. He reversed that position within about 24 hours but meanwhile I was left struggling to find a doctor willing to visit my father urgently to provide the necessary letter such that the transaction wasn't delayed. By that stage, Taylor Emmet had been aware of the LPA for nearly 5 months so it is strange that they hadn't raised the issue sooner

EDIT: I raised a formal complaint with Taylor Emmet about the issues raised in this review. In their response to my formal complaint, they completely exonerated themselves but did not deal with all of the issues raised. (I delayed posting this review until I received that response in case they redeemed themselves but they did not so it is a one star review as zero star reviews are not available.) I am considering escalating the complaint to the Legal Ombudsman

Previous purchase seven years ago when Sarah Gaunt acted for me cannot be faulted.which was my.reason for using Taylor Emmett again.
However, the sale of my property was to prove disappointing.
My purchase, which Sarah handled went very smoothly.
I have previously moved many times and never experienced such poor service as I got with this sale. It appeared to drag on much longer than necessary.
Due to this I would hesitate to recommend Taylor and Emmett to anyone..

Started well, but as we got further into the conveyancing process communication became intermittent. Difficult to get hold of people unless you visited the office. The final few weeks were very stressful. No one answering the phone or responding promptly to e-mails. The final straw was receiving an incorrect (by c£40k) redemption statement 5pm the night before completion. I have used Taylor and Emmet in three prior house moves and they were excellent. I won't be using them again.
