We found the Total Buying Abroad website and downloaded their Buying in Spain guide. This was extremely valuable to us in explaining a wide range of issues associated with buying a property in Spain. It is very clearly and logically written and easy to follow, even with virtually no previous knowledge of the topic.

Once we had found the property we wanted, we contacted TBA to ask for a recommendation for an attorney in Spain and a foreign exchange company to transfer money from the UK to Spain. TBA staff were friendly and helpful. Most importantly, having engaged both their recommended lawyer and forex company, both have served us really well. As a result of these professionals, the entire buying process has gone extremely smoothly - far more so than we dared hope - and we took ownership of the property within a couple of months.

The services provided by the recommended attorney were comprehensive - even including opening a bank account for us in Spain that is specifically designed for English speakers and with excellent online access. Similarly, the foreign exchange company is a pleasure to deal with, offering sensible advice and providing secure services at better exchange rates than available from a bank.

Having just purchased a property in Spain we found the information provided by Total Buying Abroad invaluable. The buying guide & property viewing checklist gave us a lot of useful information so we had a good idea what to do before we went on our search. They also put us in touch with a lawyer who spoke great English. Once we found our property we gave him power of attorney to which enabled him to do everything for us including opening a bank account, getting our NIE’s, connecting the services etc. This actually made the whole process easier than buying in the UK!
