I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Barrett and Thomson, specifically by Vivian. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share how utterly unprofessional and disorganised she was throughout our case.

From the outset, Vivian proved herself to be completely unprepared and incapable of handling even the most basic aspects of her role. Despite repeated reminders to ensure her laptop and other essential tools were ready for our hearing, she arrived without functioning equipment. This glaring oversight forced her to beg the judge for leniency, repeatedly apologising in a manner that was both embarrassing and unprofessional.

Vivian's lack of preparation extended beyond technical issues. She continuously claimed that her client was "scared," an excuse that seemed to be her fallback whenever faced with the simplest of questions. This not only undermined our case but also showed her inability to present a strong, confident argument on our behalf.

Her disorganisation was evident in every interaction. Documents were misplaced, deadlines were missed, and her overall approach was chaotic. It was clear that Vivian was not only unprofessional but also severely lacking in the basic skills required to effectively represent a client.

In summary, Vivian's performance was an absolute disaster. Her incompetence severely impacted our case, and her unprofessional demeanor was a constant source of frustration and embarrassment. I would strongly advise against using Barrett and Thomson, especially if Vivian is assigned to your case. Her lack of preparedness, organisation, and professionalism is unacceptable and detrimental to any legal matter.

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with this firm during a very stressful and challenging period. Without naming the individual in relation to GDPR, I feel compelled to share my experience to help others avoid the same mistakes. Due to my stressed and depressed state, I made the hasty decision to engage their services without thorough research into their reputation or effectiveness.

From the start, I felt I was treated with suspicion, as if I wasn’t going to pay my fees. Throughout the process, I was overcharged as the services continued, and the total costs quickly spiraled out of control. I ended up paying approximately £1,100 for an unsuccessful and unfavorable outcome. In hindsight, I realised that my issue could have been resolved with free legal advice from a citizens advice bureau or a one-stop shop.

As a client, I expected the firm to advocate strongly on my behalf, but the solicitor assigned to my case did not make sufficient effort. I was made to feel as though I was asking for too much, which only added to my stress and frustration.

My best and most honest recommendation is to remain calm during critical situations and carefully review all your legal options. Avoid making quick decisions without proper research. If you do decide to engage this firm, ensure you have a clear and detailed breakdown of the services provided and the total cost. Depending on your case, free legal services might be the most feasible and effective option. In my experience, this firm did not deliver the level of service I needed and expected, and I would advise others to consider their options carefully before proceeding.

I would strongly advise not to go with them. They used to be good and had professional staff but this isn't case anymore. I purchased two properties via them. First one was very good as Sarah (solicitor) was very helpful and professional. However second time was no less than Trauma. I was bullied, being shouted at, charged more than double and nearly lost deal. Herpreet didn't respond to my emails and didn't even bother to check property details i was requesting. When it was nearing contract exchange date and I still didn't get reply, I went to their office and sat at reception for quite long time. Receptionist was horrible to me and my wife and we both were traumatised with experience. when she finally came to us, started shouting at us. We were 3 days far from contract exchange and had no option than absorb insult. She even did mistake on legal documents which had to be corrected. She also charged more than double amount agreed for local search. I would even like to complain about them to relevant body. Me and my wife we both went through such horrible time thanks to each other support and passion for new house which we bought through years of hard earned money.

Took them on due to previous solicitors I used were nothing but ineffective.
These were on my mortgage companies "approved" list and were local so I hoped for an improvement.
However, I have realised this isn't the case.
They were slow to deal with everything, costing money and time.
Now I've asked them to justify their invoices, my family law solicitor has taken to lying. Though has she lied the whole way though?
I wish I'd read recent reviews since I've noticed the most recent are the worst. I've escalated to the legal ombudsman and await their response.
