Do not use this firm for conveyancing! They acted for the buyers of a property I've recently sold and were disorganised to the extent the transaction was unnecessarily delayed by at least six weeks while they asked TWICE for responses to queries my solicitor had already sent. My solicitor and the estate agent both struggled to contact this firm - calls were not put through to the person dealing with the transaction, and her out of office seemed to be permanently on saying she'd reply in three days. If I was their client I'd have made a complaint. Go elsewhere if you want decent service.

I have recently used Hartley & Worstenholme as my solicitor to purchase my new home. As a first time buyer, this process has been somewhat daunting and overwhelming but this has greatly been eased by the incredible support received from Victoria Towell. She has been incredibly patient with my countless questions and very efficient and accommodating about communicating in accordance with my long working hours. I have found her instrumental throughout the process and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company, particularly Victoria, to a friend. Absolutely DISGUSTING! AVOID ALIC Wright incompetent doesn't even cut it. Imoral and hasn't filled my late mother's wishes. Not professional in the slightest. Complaint made will update on outcome

It was a pleasure working with Jonathan Sharp on the sale and purchase of our old and new home. Tried to instruct these solicitors. Someone I know was aware that these solicitors are able to do leasehold conveyance. Phoned them & reception let me know that I needed to speak to Jack Lindley. I left him an E-mail, no reply. I phoned him. All you ever get is a recorded message saying that he’s not at his desk. I managed to speak to him once & give him some details. There were some details I didn’t know the answer to. So I rang my buyer & got them answered straight away. I rang him back & he wasn’t at his desk. I wouldn’t leave him a message because of the fact that he hadn’t answered me previously. I rang up & pointed out to the receptionist that he’s never at his desk. I hoped this would maybe prompt her to get ask him to take my call. Instead the receptionist wouldn’t answer the phone either. When I rang back after getting his answerphone again the phone just rang out. So I assume that my number was coming up in the office. I hadn’t even managed to give him the extra details he’d asked for & hadn’t received a quote at this point. I took this as several red flags & that they’d actually decided not to deal with me. So I found a new solicitor & got a quote practically the same day. In writing. In an E-mail. I got another quote straight away from another firm. Wow , people that actually reply & want work & respond by giving quotes. Who would have thought it. I’ve instructed one of them, set up a meeting to do an I.D check & instructed them. That’s about as far as I’ve got. I received a welcome pack from Hartley & Worstenholme today. It was informing me to sign my papers & had a quote in for the work. £775 ish. I can’t remember the exact figure because at this point it didn’t interest me. The figure is about £150 less than my other quotes. I looked into my call log as to when I actually spoke to Jack Lindley that one time only. It took them 3 1/2 weeks to send my welcome pack. If I was relying on these they would’ve already have cost me about six weeks. He still doesn’t have the extra information because I pretty much gave up on them. I don’t know how much longer the process will take with my new solicitors but at least they answer the phone. So I’m hopeful that they are doing the work. Hartley’s are an absolute joke & so is Jack Lindley as he doesn’t answer any form of communication & is never at his desk. He either needs to get his own receptionist to take his calls & messages or quite frankly be sacked. Avoid, avoid, avoid. This joke of a company. They’ve actually done me a favour by being completely incompetent from the start. It could so easily have happened half way through my process. So I can be thankful for that. Thankyou Jack Lindley for being so incompetent that I didn’t use you. But I still think you need sacking. Worstenholme, I suppose the name is quite ironic when you think about it. Avoid at all costs
