Terrible experience. Do not recommend at all.
Katy never answers the phone or replies to messages left with secretaries. Nor does she reply to emails.
The experience was so bad we have put in a formal complaint and had to de- instruct the firm on what should have been a straightforward house purchase.
Katy had not progressed our purchase on at all and lied about the steps she had taken/ stage she was at. We wasted 4 months with them.
Please do not use this firm… we regret it completely.

I do not recommend Katy Mickler's conveyancing services. The 9 months between instructing Katy and exchanging contracts on the sale of my property were one of the most stressful periods of my life. The formal complaint I made on 27th December 2023 was never answered by Gareth Webb.

I suggest that you do NOT use this solicitor as they are extremely unprofessional. We used them to do a probate for us which included the sale of a house. I spent hours of my own time reviewing their work and correcting their mistakes. My numerous emails and telephone calls were rarely answered in a timely manner (several weeks rather than days). Documents that were handed in to the practice were misplaced. I followed their complaints process which was escalated to the office manager, who eventually answered my concerns, but indicated not much she could do as Katy was one of the practice owners. They lost the deeds to the house and when we presented evidence of them signing for the deeds, then they eventually found the deeds. They did give us a very small discount for all the mistakes made and the extra time taken; but compared to the costs of over 15,000 pounds and the loss of interest on the house sale funds, it was unfair. The process took over a year and the funds from the house sale were held for months during which time Gareth Webb solicitors benefited from the interest received. I do not know how they are still in business, do yourself a favour and avoid them.
An Example of incompetence taken from Katy's emails :
"I can see that I had calculated this incorrectly ..... I didn’t double check the figures as I usually would. On reviewing it today, I think I had simply put the incorrect figure in initially."

I recently purchase my first house with the help of Gareth Webb solicitor (Kay). She was amazing and answered to all my questions and processed my application within the time frame also my property was chain free. So it was completed very quickly. I personally highly recommend Kay.

I heared somewhere that solicitor’s used to take lot of time and the purchase was hell. In my case my friend refereed Kay and ofcourse anyone who wants to use Gareth Webb it will be nice choice.

AVOID... Took 6 months to complete on a basic purchase with no chain, communication was diabolical and we had to send 5 or 6 emails before even getting a reply.

After months of chasing we still have issues with the completion as part of it wasn't done correctly.

I've now sent 3 emails with no replies over the course of approx 3 to 4 weeks. They took my money for fees and building charges etc but now I'm getting letters saying these haven't been paid

Will never use this company again.

I'm also confident this not a one off as 3 years ago I dealt with them for the purchase of my house and received exactly the same type of service from a different colleague. 5* review all the way and I highly recommend them....Next on my list will be sorting me out with a Will 🙂
