I chose Evans Cook due to high reviews on here, a focus on conveyancing, location, and competitive quote. I made an agreement with Evans Cook that they would be my solicitor/conveyor for a house sale, but just verbally or in an email, without signing anything, as I had not yet received an offer on the house. Some months later (after getting an offer), I got an email from my agent saying 'already opened a file' for the buyer and 'unfortunately you both can’t use Evans Cook as it is a conflict of interest'. I waited for one week more thinking Evans Cook would surely write to me to confirm, but heard nothing so I emailed them and queried it saying 'surely the conflict of interest was created later when he approached you, and it would make sense to tell him to find a new solicitor' and I added 'it also seems odd that you would choose to end our relationship and not even inform me of that directly yourself'. They replied to say that there had been a mix up, that this mix up may have happened due to the person being out of the office for a personal reason, and apologized quite politely, but confirmed I would have to find a new solicitor, and recommended one. The house sale was an easy one with no chain and a cash buyer, and took about 3 months from offer accepted to completion. I didn't hear of any issues from Evans Cook, and everything seems to have gone through OK, so they seem to have done their job OK.

Very responsive and professional. We chose a house in Wellingborough last December and unfortunately, the lady who owned the house passed away. Evans Cook Solicitors informed us about that in time and gave proper instructions and advice related to the probate process and the potential wait time for the completion of the purchase. Once the probate was granted, we only had very little time to complete the purchase before my mortgage offer expired. (if it took more time, we would have ended up with a much higher interest rate). But Evans Cook solicitors did their best and completed the purchase before that. Also, they are really good trusted advisors! Even though they had done all other searches until the probate was granted, they had not requested the local search report until the probate was granted. If they had requested that earlier and if that local search result was expired by the time that the probate was granted as it would have cost me another £89 to get a new local search done. But, thanks to their attention to detail, this entire thing didn't cost me a single extra penny or days. Everything went absolutely well. If someone is comparing quotes from multiple Solicitor Companies and if Evans Cook is one of them, I would highly recommend them to just go ahead with Evans Cook Solicitors with no second thoughts. Choosing them will guarantee the peace of mind that you need!
