I had the unfortunate experience of attending an interview at Legge & Miller for a Legal Secretary role. From the moment I walked into the interview with Susan Parson, it became clear that professionalism and respect were completely absent.

Susan was condescending, cutting me off repeatedly as I tried to answer her questions, and spoke to me in a belittling tone that made it impossible to have a productive conversation. She openly questioned my experience in a way that felt less like genuine curiosity and more like an attempt to undermine my confidence. Her dismissive attitude and abrasive comments made the entire process feel more like an interrogation than an interview.

This behavior isn’t just unprofessional—it’s outright toxic. For a company that should be presenting itself as a reputable legal firm, this experience revealed a glaring lack of respect for potential employees. If this is how they treat candidates, I dread to think how they might treat their staff or clients.

I left the interview early because I refuse to tolerate bullying and disrespect, especially from someone representing a firm that should know better. I strongly caution anyone considering applying here or seeking their services to think twice. Professionalism, respect, and decency seem to be missing entirely from this workplace.

Replying back to Nicholson Martin Legge & Miller Solicitors (owner): While I was eager to demonstrate my skills and suitability for the role, the interview environment was unexpectedly hostile and unprofessional. Despite my attempts to answer questions and provide examples, I was repeatedly interrupted, spoken to in a condescending tone, and had my responses dismissed before I could elaborate. This created a negative and stressful atmosphere, leaving me feeling disrespected and undermined.

For example, when I tried to explain why i applied to this role i started off by explaining, 'I am interested in this role as it strongly alines with my goals of helping people in the legal sector' before i could explain more I was cut off and degraded and called stupid?... Additionally, comments questioning the legitimacy of my work experience at a professional and well known Legal Clinic were unfounded and deeply disrespectful.

I appreciate your offer to reimburse travel expenses, but at the time, I was too upset to accept. I also note the implication in your response that I was unwilling to explore other areas of discussion. I would like to clarify that I was consistently cut off before completing my points, which prevented meaningful dialogue.

I hope my feedback is taken constructively. Interviews should provide a platform for open and respectful communication, allowing both parties to assess compatibility. I sincerely hope no other candidate has a similar experience. I hope you will improve from this : )

Have used twice for conveyancing and both times they've sorted everything with a personal touch. One house move involved a lot of hassle from others in the chain and Stuart/team were diplomatic throughout. All monies, etc transferred smoothly and we will use again if we move in the future!

Recently had some property conveyancing carried out from practice in Stanley. Excellent customer service and communication inside good timeframe at reasonable cost. Would certainly engage in the future and strongly recommend.... unfortunately still didn't go through!!

Awful solicitors, totally incompetent and very unhelpful arrogant manner. Caused more stress, I would not recommend them.

I wanted to go with co-op solicitors but these refused to renounce executorship of parents will. They then messed up the house sale by not noticing it wasn't being marketed with the estate agent they picked which resulted in it getting very overgrown and everything taking a lot longer. Found a better estate agent and got them to use them and the estate agent said they were the worst they've ever dealt with. To cap it off they charged more that the co-op would have.

I escaped domestic violence and planned on moving town as circumstances arisen the move came sooner..
I was adult and discussed this with the ex and the so called brilliant solicitor called me foolish..
I thought your choosen solicitor was meant to help you not automatically take a woman and child beating narcissists side without knowing facts...

Absolutely disgusting attitude she clearly was not interested because i am entitled to legal aid due to the mentioned DV meaning she wouldn't get paid thousands straight away... MRS PARSONS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF YOUR NASTY VILE AND NOT AN OUNCE OF COMPASSION.... id suggest a rethink of career

Just had a phone call from these I was not happy with the attitude and being told to speak properly I tried explain to the lady on the phone I just felt that she was putting me down as I wasn't as well spoke as she was and got the impression she didn't want to help but that seems to be the case with every dad trying to see their kids your just put in the same boat as every other dad that doesn't want to see their kids

Took time to explain my legal position and my options and advised I didn't need a solicitor at this time. Very grateful for the advice and the fact they didn't just try to get business.
